Eye experts at Mātai Medical Research Institute In late October, Mātai Medical Research Institute hosted a series of public talks by renowned eye experts and researchers, shedding light on groundbreaking developments in eye health. These presentations covered a range of topics, from the complex relationship between our eyes and brain in forming vision to advanced imaging research at Mātai, especially in diagnosing glaucoma and other eye diseases. The sessions highlighted Mātai's collaborations with the Vision Research Foundation, Eye Institute Auckland, Rapanui Trust, the JN & HB Williams Foundation, and GE HealthCare. Key speakers included Dr Graham Wilson, who delved into the science behind the "miracle of vision"; Dr Jesse Gale, discussing the role of mechanical stress in optic nerve health; Dr William Schierding, presenting radiogenomics for personalised age-related eye disease care; and Dr Loxlan Kasa, exploring cutting-edge MRI techniques for glaucoma research. Attendees gained insight into how these advancements in eye health could shape the future of treatment and care, advancing our understanding of vision and eye health. #MātaiMedicalResearch #EyeHealth #VisionScience #MedicalResearch #GlaucomaAwareness #AdvancedImaging #EyeCareInnovation #VisionResearch #HealthTechnology #PublicHealth #MRIResearch #Radiogenomics #OpticNerveHealth #MedicalBreakthroughs #FutureOfHealthcare https://lnkd.in/gSngf8g3

This retrospective study evaluates In Situ Decompression (ISD) and Ulnar Nerve Transposition (UNT) surgeries for treating Cubital Tunnel Syndrome, the second most common nerve entrapment syndrome in the upper extremity. ISD and UNT showed comparable improvements in pain relief (VAS), functional outcomes (QuickDASH), and nerve conduction at 6 months. ISD demonstrated slightly faster recovery rates at 1 month (53.57% vs. 32.14%). No significant difference in long-term clinical outcomes was observed. Both methods are safe and effective for CuTS treatment, though further studies including parameters like revision surgery and complications could provide additional insights. Geddes Neural Network (GNN): Dr. RAS Eye is on TBI!!! www.t2mcorridor.com #biaa #iamRAS Brain Buzzers: Head Injury & Genes Might Double MS Risk! Heads up, fellow neuro peeps! A new study just dropped some mind-bending news about MS. Turns out, head trauma + specific genetic factors can bump up your risk of developing the disease by a whopping 18 TIMES! Here's the lowdown: Researchers identified two gene variants linked to MS susceptibility. Folks with these genes who'd experienced head trauma within 5 years of MS onset were 18x more likely to develop the disease than those without any of these risk factors. Even head injuries further back in time (beyond 5 years) still boosted the risk, though not as dramatically. This is a game-changer for understanding MS, folks. It suggests that head trauma may act as a trigger, pushing susceptible individuals down the path to the disease. While the study doesn't prove causation, it opens up a whole new avenue for research and potentially prevention strategies. Of course, it's important to remember that correlation doesn't equal causation. And for the vast majority of folks, even with these genetic factors, the risk of MS remains relatively low. But this is a significant step forward in unraveling the complex web of factors behind MS. And hey, maybe it'll finally convince folks to wear those helmets while skiing! Stay tuned for more brain-bending updates on #MSresearch and #neurology! #DrRAS #TheBrainWhisperer #GNNsupports #ScienceNeverSleeps #t2mcorridor #tbi P.S. Don't forget to check out the original study for all the juicy details: https://lnkd.in/ePm-i2vZ Let's talk, BRAIN SCIENCE, in the comments! I hope this LinkedIn post effectively summarizes the key points of the study and engages your audience with your signature Dr. RAS flair!
