Majority of Swiss Support New Nuclear Power Construction: A recent poll reveals that 53% of the Swiss public is in favor of lifting the ban on building new nuclear power plants. The government is considering amending the Nuclear Energy Act, and discussions will continue into 2025. This marks a shift in public opinion as energy needs grow, and other energy sources face challenges. With nearly 28% of its energy mix coming from nuclear power and 33% from fossil fuels, there is a significant opportunity to replace fossil fuels with nuclear and variable renewable energies. These two energy sources are highly complementary, as nuclear power can be extremely flexible with solutions like OAPS. As with any energy source, renewable or non-renewable, there are pros and cons to using nuclear energy. For some, nuclear is an underutilised energy source. It’s cheap to produce and low carbon, the argument for nuclear says it should be a larger part of the world’s energy mix as it transitions away from fossil fuels to low-carbon and renewable energy. For others, nuclear is as bad, if not worse than fossil fuels. The argument against nuclear pins the potential of a nuclear meltdown like Chornobyl or Fukushima as superior to the positives of the energy source, as does the excessive costs and difficulty in disposing of nuclear waste. Best invest in Building and talking about Fusion power, space, and maritime propulsion systems and industry as data centres are. You talk about Nuclear (meaning Fission) and fail to discuss fusion. https://lnkd.in/ge_aeX7M The nuclear fission industry is ignorant of what's happening around you. Pull your uranium heads out, adjust your industry to fusion energy, and prepare to enter the commercially growing fusion energy industry. As it dawns on Earth like the sun. Great Headline, Guardian on Nuclear fission. https://lnkd.in/g8sMZtpR Fission is moving towards obsolescence at an accelerated pace, as it is "out of step, out of time, out of place," and merely a temporary industry globally. https://lnkd.in/gbd_mZqk By 2028, Helion is expected to start producing electricity from its first fusion commercial power plant, which will provide electricity to Microsoft. The plant will produce at least 50 MWe after an initial ramp-up period. https://lnkd.in/gY9J3MQY Now see what is happening in the Fusion industry in the world. https://lnkd.in/g9hMBD7a As fission trebles, fuel shortage is increasingly real,

Japanese government (METI) has published their draft energy basic plan for 2040, which only aims for 40-50% renewable electricity. 30-40% of thermal power will remain, however it seems to assume 100% abatement by ammonia/hydrogen and/or CCS. 20% nuclear power means, restarting all nuclear power under safety examination, and replacing decomissioned nuclear power. In the discussion, many members of the committee requested more support to build nuclear power, referring to RAB model in the UK. You can read draft basic plan here (in Japanese). https://lnkd.in/g7XJynij

Featuring expert insights from Uppsala University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Office for Nuclear Regulation and the European Nuclear Society, our new special focus eBook delves into the role of sustainable nuclear energy as part of the energy transition. Nuclear power is a low-carbon source of energy because, unlike coal, oil, or gas power plants, nuclear power plants practically do not produce CO2 during operation. Nuclear reactors generate nearly one-third of the world’s carbon-free electricity and are crucial in meeting climate change goals. In light of high global gas prices, we must ensure the world’s future energy supply is bolstered by reliable, affordable, low-carbon power. Nuclear is the answer to these problems. #NuclearEnergy #EnergyTransition #GreenTransition #Sustainability Click the link below to read and download the full eBook for free ⬇ https://bit.ly/4hpDT1T

All nuclear waste needs to be stored forever, right? Wrong! Fact: The truth is, much of nuclear fuel can be recycled to create new fuel or valuable by products. Over 90% of waste from nuclear power stations falls into the low or intermediate-level category and most of this can be reprocessed. Nuclear energy is critical for us to reach Net Zero, and the sector needs more people. As we strive for a sustainable and cleaner future, nuclear energy stands out as a key player in the energy sector. Here's why nuclear energy is a powerful solution: - Low Carbon Emissions: Nuclear power plants produce minimal carbon emissions, making them a crucial ally in combating climate change. - High Energy Output: A small amount of nuclear fuel can generate a significant amount of energy, providing a stable and reliable power supply. - Innovations in Safety: Advances in technology continue to enhance the safety and efficiency of nuclear reactors. Nuclear energy offers a path to a greener, more sustainable future. Let's continue to innovate and explore this powerful energy source!
Did you know that nuclear energy generates around a quarter of the world’s low-carbon electricity?⠀ When compared with other sources of electricity from cradle to grave, nuclear energy has the lowest carbon footprint, uses fewer materials and takes up less land. For example, solar power needs more than 17 times as much material and 46 times as much land to produce one unit of energy. As the world increasingly seeks secure, low-carbon sources of energy, nuclear power will continue playing a key role in the world’s energy mix.
