🚨 Australia is planning to Ban social media for children under 16…. and honestly–I think it’s a smart move. I’ll explain why: Today, over 90% of rural kids between 14-18 already have their own smartphones. And wherever I go, I see parents giving phones to kids just to keep them entertained. Social media, as we know, is a world where trends go viral overnight. Kids are exposed to all kinds of posts—from the latest fashion to new gadgets. Kids see it, and naturally, they want it too, even if they don’t really need it. So intentionally or not….It’s training them to spend impulsively from a young age. And yes …..Every parent has their own approach to teaching values and handling screen time, but we cant ignore the huge impact social media has on young minds today! Less exposure to trends = less pressure to spend early. ✅ This will create– Healthier minds, better money habits, and maybe even a better generation!✅ What do you think 💬??

Are you—or the teens in your life—picking up your phone too often? One #productivity hack is to change your phone’s overall color scheme to grayscale, which makes most social media apps less engaging. (In my case, it added a real hurdle to using my phone because I’ve sorted my apps by color!) If you’re interested in giving grayscale a try, this article tells how: https://lnkd.in/eJzVswEz

Have you ever wondered why we do what we do? 1) Text messaging is the #1 most important communication channel on smartphones across all generations. 2) 75% of Gen Z and Millennials prefer texting over talking on the phone. 3) Over one-third of Boomers find it acceptable for brands to text them a few times a week. 4) Text message open rates are an astounding 98%. 5) More than three-quarters (76%) of Gen Z research schools online.

Early access to smartphones and social media has damaged Gen Z... and they know it. Jonathan Haidt explains: "I have this analysis of what happened to Gen Z. I paint Gen Z as a generation that's been damaged, that's going to be less than they would have been." "They're less ambitious, they're less successful, they're less happy, they're less competent." "I've given a version of this talk in middle schools, in high schools, in universities. I always ask at the end of it, 'What do you think? Did I get your generation wrong?'" "Maybe one time someone said, 'I think you got this wrong.' The other thousands and thousands and thousands of times they say, 'Yup, that's basically right.'" "Young kids like 9-10, they desperately want phone, TikTok, everything." "But by the time they're in late high school or certainly college, the overwhelming view I find among Gen Z is, 'Wow, did this mess us up.'" "'Not that I'm going to quit because I don't want to be alone, but man, did this mess us up.'" And that's why when you ask them, 'Do you wish social media was never invented?'" "Most of them say, 'Yes, I wish it was never invented.' That's why this is so different from any previous tech panic, it's that the kids themselves see the problem." #reels #socialmedia #technology #instagram #tiktok #genz #millennials #smartphone #screentime

Open rates are a vanity metric. Here’s why: 1. Apple released an IOS update in 2023 that automatically opens emails whenever they arrive in the Apple Mail Inbox. That means there is no way to accurately measure your open rate. 2. Tracking your opens uses a hidden URL link that can negatively impact deliverability depending on your ESP and the amount of emails you’re sending. 3. Open rates will not correlate to your number of interested responses. Do this instead: 1. Send a test email to yourself with the same subject and opening line as it would appear in your campaign. Judge if this is an email YOU would open. 2. Track your response rate. If less than 10% of your leads are responding, there are issues in your copy, targeting, or personalization. 15% is decent. Anything above 20% is outstanding. 3. Remember that content is more important than clicks. What’s the point of 30% reply rates when less than 5% are interested?

We all know social media isn't the best for us, especially with our highly comparative framing around it. There are lots of positives to social media use too, like connection, education, and inspiration. So here's your reminder to be mindful of the accounts you follow, take breaks, and limit your social media use! How much is too much? Of course there's no magic number. Everyone has their own capacity and needs. We encourage you to consider the tips we shared in our post earlier this month to get clear on the boundaries you need to set: - Use your Screen Time (iPhone) or Digital Well-Being (Android) feature on your phone to get clear on the numbers - how often and how long are you actually using your phone? - How long do you actually want to use your phone? Can you set limits (using your phone's features)? - Do you actually enjoy using social media as much as you think you do? How do you actually feel when you're scrolling through? - Are you doom scrolling (continuing to scroll despite negative feelings coming up)? - What would you rather be doing? Again, it's normal to spend some time each day scrolling on social media, and you also get to choose what that looks like for you! Get clear on your desires, and put some boundaries in place for yourself. #socialmedia #boundaries #personalchallenge #comfortzone #selfimprovement #personaldevelopment #personalimprovement #pushyourselfeveryday #dontgiveup #youcandoit #wednesdays #workonitwednesdays

Imagine a teenager in 2009, waking up and grabbing their iPhone 3G to scroll through Facebook for the latest news and friends’ updates. This teenager is part of Gen Z, or Zoomers, born between the mid-1990s and early 2010s. Fast forward to today, and that same teenager is now an adult navigating a world dominated by TikTok, Instagram, and AI technology. Gen Z has always seen the world as a global village, with instant access to information and global connections. They’ve shown resilience, facing the 2008 financial crisis as kids and entering adulthood during a global pandemic. These experiences made them pragmatic and resourceful, seeking brands that align with their values. Gen Z’s story is about digital connectivity, social consciousness, and adaptability. Brands must understand this generation to engage with them effectively. Gen Z's Are So Cool! They are the youngest generation of kids and teenagers. Gen Z is super different from older generations in many ways! Gen Z grew up with smartphones, apps, and the internet. They understand technology better than anyone! This makes them very smart about spotting fake brands online. But here's the thing - ignoring Gen Z is a big mistake. Their opinions influence their parents, grandparents, and people of all ages. Plus, Gen Z cares a lot about improving the world, and they have money to spend! Gen Z expects brands to be open, listen, and keep improving for them. Gen Z is shaping the future of how people buy things. So tell me, what do you think? Is your favorite brand paying attention to Gen Z? #Branding #Genz #Marketing #Technology
