🌟 Building Connections for Mobile Crisis Teams & Co-Responder Models 🌟 Hi LinkedIn community! As a social worker with experience in mobile crisis response, I’ve had the opportunity to work directly with individuals in crisis, collaborating closely with law enforcement to provide prompt and effective mental health support. I'm passionate about bridging the gap between mental health services and first responders, ensuring that people in crisis receive the care they need without unnecessary escalation. As I am continuing my doctoral study in social work, I’m diving deeper into this work, researching co-responder models and how they’re being implemented. I’m particularly interested in how partnerships between mental health professionals and law enforcement can reduce arrests, hospitalizations, and create better outcomes for our communities. I’m looking to connect with others who share this passion! I’m reaching out to my network (and beyond!) for any resources, literature, or professionals with experience in: - Mobile Crisis Teams - Co-Responder Models - Mental Health & Law Enforcement Partnerships Please feel free to tag them here or connect us directly. I’m excited to learn from others and build on the work we’re all doing to make our communities safer and healthier. Thank you for helping me grow in this journey! #MobileCrisis #CoResponder #MentalHealth #LawEnforcement #SocialWorkResearch #CommunityCrisisIntervention #Collaboration

One of the most effective ways to support law enforcement leaders is through peer support—connecting with others who understand the unique pressures of the job. Why is this so important? 🗣️ Shared Experience: Peer support provides a space where police leaders can talk to others who have walked the same path, making it easier to open up and address mental health or substance abuse struggles. 💼 Leadership-Specific Insights: Not every challenge a leader faces is understood by those outside of command roles. Peer networks allow leaders to share insights and solutions that resonate with their specific challenges, whether it's the strain of decision-making under pressure or the emotional toll of leading through crises. 🚫 Breaking Isolation: For those at the top, the feeling of isolation can be profound. Peer support breaks down those barriers, offering connection, empathy, and understanding in a way that traditional mental health services may not always provide. 💡 We need to advocate for formal peer support programs tailored specifically for law enforcement leaders, where they can safely and confidentially seek advice, share their experiences, and get the help they need without fear of stigma. Let's ensure that every leader has access to the support they deserve. #PeerSupport #LawEnforcementLeadership #OfficerWellness #MentalHealthAwareness #StrongerTogether #ResilientLeadership

Are you going to the Labor Assistance Professionals (LAP) Conference next week? If so, let's connect! California Prime Recovery Addiction & Mental Health Treatment Center | Orange County, California will be exhibiting (booth # TBA) -- come say hi! I'm really looking forward to connecting with you all and learning about what we as treatment providers can do to better support your employees struggling with substance use and/or mental health-related disorders. From an I/O psychology perspective, I'm excited to learn about... ♦ How are organizations continuing to strengthen their EAP/LAP programs to support employee success in the workplace? ♦ How can we increase the % of employees returning to work from medical leave and subsequentially, successful reintegration? ♦ How can we as employers take more preventative action to mitigate the need to take leave in the first place?

Behavioral Health Support Specialists are critical in addressing the growing shortage of mental health professionals. A new study from the Community Mental Health Journal highlights these frontline caregivers and their role in helping those in need of mental health and substance use care. All we need now is for policy to catch up with the data--particularly in creating flexible scope of practice--with due regard for roles of the different types of workers and especially the important work of triage--expanding beyond recovery to prevention, non-onerous credentialing requirements, adequate pay, and expanding community sites workers can bill. Learn more about the role of these workers and what needs to happen to recognize them as part of the workforce here: https://lnkd.in/ew2Byayx Authored by Elizabeth Heetderks Fong, PhD and Anna Bobb, M.P.H. #MentalHealth #HealthcarePolicy #IntegratedCare #Workforce

After beginning her career in community mental health and school settings, Pavandeep Sandhu, LMFT, decided to give online therapy a try. She was attracted by the promise of a more manageable caseload, but the reality turned out to be quite the opposite. More and more administrative responsibilities stacked up on top of her clinical workload, and the endless meetings and piles of paperwork made it hard to focus on actual client sessions. “Even though it’s all pro-profit-and-productivity, you don’t feel productive — because at that point, it’s just stressful,” she explained. Plus, the relentless focus on output and revenue left her feeling drained and unfulfilled. 😔 In the end, she decided to go back to working in schools. With staff shortages plaguing behavioral health organizations across the country, many employers are desperate for ways to prevent therapists like Pavandeep from leaving their jobs. If you're curious about what * really * causes providers to walk away, check out our new blog post featuring three personal stories from providers who quit.
