Salary vs role fulfillment - Scaling your career 💡 I've had numerous uncomfortable salary conversations lately, especially following the post-COVID surge in hiring challenges, which I'm sure all Managers are experiencing and talking about. We're now seeing a shift towards more realistic salary expectations, though many are still holding on to inflated views. Engaging in these discussions on an almost daily basis has been quite enlightening, especially as I unveil motivations and then provide market insights. While salary is of course a crucial element, it's also essential to consider what else truly matters to you in a job, a company, and an environment, plus what's actually going to get you closer to achieving your career and life goals. Often, money is used as a quick fix to retain employees, but if it doesn't address the core reasons for your job search, you may soon find yourself looking again. I encourage you to reflect on what you're currently missing in your role, and what you value most in a new opportunity beyond salary, such as: 🤝 Collaborative team culture ⚙️ Exposure to new technology 🧑🏫 Uncapped learning opportunities 🏡 Hybrid work or plenty of flexibility 📈 Clear paths for progression and growth 🕴️Insights and mentorship from leaders you admire 🚀 Industry or client experiences you haven't encountered before Though I want to conclude by also saying, while all of the above is important, don't allow yourself to be underpaid or pressured into accepting less than you're worth.
