The History of Direct Selling in Malaysia: A Journey of Growth and Trust Direct selling in Malaysia has a rich history, dating back to the 1970s. The industry began with just a few multinational companies introducing Malaysians to the concept of personalized selling and home-based product demonstrations. Over the years, the sector gained momentum, becoming a trusted avenue for entrepreneurial opportunities. By the 1980s and 1990s, direct selling evolved into a recognized industry. The establishment of the Direct Selling Association of Malaysia (DSAM) in 1978 was a milestone, promoting ethical practices and consumer trust. This was further strengthened by the Direct Sales Act 1993, ensuring fair practices and protecting both consumers and distributors. Malaysia’s multicultural society embraced direct selling for its flexibility and potential for supplemental income. The industry diversified its offerings, ranging from wellness products to household goods, appealing to a broad spectrum of the population. Today, Malaysia is a regional hub for direct selling, contributing significantly to the economy. The digital era has also transformed the industry, with e-commerce and social media enhancing reach and efficiency. As I embark on my own journey in this field, I am inspired by how direct selling continues to empower individuals, foster community spirit, and create opportunities for personal growth. Let’s celebrate this legacy and work towards an even brighter future for direct selling in Malaysia! #DirectSelling #Malaysia #Entrepreneurship #CareerChange #MLM

Embrace #GloCal for International B2B Enterprise Sales Success. Understanding local markets firsthand is key for enterprise sales in countries like #Indonesia, #Thailand, #Vietnam, #Philippines, #MiddleEast #Japan etc. (just first hand experience - what you read on internet vs reality on the ground is very different) My journey of selling Locus in Indonesia started with a week in Jakarta—riding go-jeks, visiting e-commerce hubs, and walking the streets, talking to consumers in shopping malls on their experience of e-commerce deliveries —to truly grasp the nuances of local commerce. This on-ground insight was invaluable for our first executive meetings. Nuances mattered during the demos to drive confidence in the first meetings. Dive into new markets by experiencing them directly. We are going to start the same process for Hunar.AI with Gregory Ipe very soon. Tagging Ayesha Zafar Piyush Sharma Arnav Pandey Sreedevi Kaimal to share their first international B2B enterprise sales experience as well.
