Part 1 of 2 of videos dedicated to Stamps I plan to release this week. Join a Zoom conversation between me and Alexandre Gaudiano about the Stamps workflow. Alex had some questions after watching Trixter's Stamps Workshop, and I try to fill in some gaps. We discuss the pros and cons of different approaches to setting up your nuke script, the reasoning that goes into them, and where the 2 workflows can fit nicely into another. After this talk, i was inspired to make a long form video dedicated to the Stamps workflow on a real nuke script example. That will be released later this week as a part 2 follow up on this topic, further elaborating the best practices of Stamps, little known tricks, and some of the reasoning and rules we've developed behind this workflow. One of the keys to life is to always be learning. It one of my favorite parts about entrepreneurship, actually. We are a bunch of self-taught mabajambas right here; there is nothing someone committed to being thier own boss won't learn how to do to build a business. Today I learned three very important things in conversation with Tosca DiMatteo 🦉: 1) Authenticity is not a rigid, static thing. It is dynamic and fluid. You have to ability –– and the agility –– adjust, tweak, and recalibrate every second of every minute of every hour of the day. Experiment with the dials til you feel free. 2) The power of vulnerability in business is in showing up for your partners and future partners in a way that isn't perfect, far from it. It is always the people who act with grace when things don't go smoothly that we remember...and refer. 3) You can experiment and practice with being vulnerable in positive situations, like asking current and ideal clients directly about their struggles and needs; or presenting a proposal live, standing with your full chest behind your process and pricing...instead of sending it via email and hoping for the best; or, you can ask your current clients for a follow-up call, post project. Get comfortable asking what worked and listen to what didn't. I also learned the Gen Z POV on vulnerability, which is a message we all need to hear: Grown Ups, if you don't show us vulnerability, we'll grow up thinking that we're "doing it wrong" when adulting gets hard. Young people need to see the real you, even if it's messy, so they can connect with universal experiences.
