"TIME SPENT ON RECCE (reconnaissance) is never wasted." A phrase variously attributed to Field Marshall Erwin Rommel, the Duke of Wellington and the sixth-century Chinese strategist Sun Tzu. It is a key element of our process, as is venue selection. 🧠 Place impacts the way people think and engage with one another, and so we are super-thoughtful about the venues and areas we choose for our clients. 😮 We choose places that support divergent and convergent thinking, invite wonderment, and encourage shifts in perspective through scale and metaphor. 🩸 Recce is also critical in identifying any hazards we need to take into account in our programme planning. And so this weekend I will be out and about on recce, checking out: 🔹 The very awesome Ardoch House on Loch Lomond for a Senior Leadership Team effectiveness accelerator programme late November. 🔸 Mugdock Park for our Fresh Air Business Walk on 6 Dec 24. WE DON'T WING IT, WE CHECK IT... Recce allows us to provide clients with a safe and inspiring environment in which to have some pretty amazing conversations that lead to concrete actions. Want to know more about how we create the conditions for shift to happen? You know how to get in touch. #DoDifferent #AmazingScottishSpaces #TeamEffectiveness

Have you ever heard comments or questions about where the Latiné community is in DEI? We have and we know how often people make assumptions about this particular topic. In the last episode of the first iteration of the Living Out Loud Discussion Series, Charmaine Utz, LCSW sat down with Cristina P. to examine the presence—or sometimes absence—of the Latiné community in DEI work. We appreciate Cristina sharing her expertise on cultural dynamics, professional representation, and the intricate responsibilities that come with leadership. How do you or your organization support and amplify Latiné voices? 📌 https://lnkd.in/gcjNeMEy #LatinéLeadership #RelationalDEI #DEI

What does it mean to offer accessibility services for an event? At the recent Oregon Leadership Summit we provided: ✅ American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters ✅ Screen captioning ✅ Assistive listening devices ✅ Designated floor mats indicating reserved seating for wheelchair users ✅ Sensory break tents ✅ Sensory bags containing noise canceling headphones, eye masks and fidget tools ✅ A team of Relay Resources trained support staff to provide accommodations ✅ Sunflower lanyards for people who chose to discreetly disclose their non-apparent disability so our onsite support staff could assist if needed Because disabled people belong in business leadership. And everywhere. [ ID: The video features Dr. Jennifer Camota Luebke standing and talking to the camera while summit attendees walk through the space behind her. Additional video clips and photo of Dr. Jennifer on stage, the Relay Resources info booth and our support services are also included. ] #DisabilityInclusion #AccessibilityPartner #OregonBusinessPlan #AccessibleEvents #AccessibleConference #OregonBusiness #BusinessLeader #LeadershipSummit #EventManagement

🌟 From the Diary of a Mandel Fellow 🌟 Have you ever wondered how ancient wisdom and modern leadership intersect? The past week's journey at the Mandel Program for Social Leadership in the North revealed exactly that. Diving deep into the mosaic of Jewish identity, our cohort engaged in thought-provoking discussions about various Jewish streams - from Orthodox to Reform, from Sephardic to Ashkenazi traditions. As a leader-in-training, I've learned that embracing this diversity isn't just about acceptance; it's about harnessing our differences as a catalyst for innovation and growth. Learning about Kiryat Shmona and Hatzor Haglilit wasn't just a history lesson - it was a masterclass in resilience. These frontier towns, built by dreamers and sustained by visionaries, teach us that true community building starts with unwavering spirit and collective determination. In this tapestry of experiences, my leadership path has found its true north: community building and local leadership. Why these two? Because I believe sustainable change starts at home, in our neighborhoods, with the people we see every day. The highlight? Leading a peer learning session on "Networking as a Life Philosophy." Through innovative mind mapping techniques, we transformed the conventional notion of networking from a business card exchange into something more meaningful - a framework for authentic human connection. 👉 What's your take on community leadership? How do you transform connections into impact? #MandelFellows #CommunityLeadership #SocialImpact #IsraeliLeadership #NetworkingPhilosophy #PersonalDevelopment #ProfessionalGrowth #מיומנה_של_עמיתה

🎚️ So you have to listen to the entire episode, but I really appreciated this particular segment for highlighting how diverse the Latine/Latinx/Latino community is—not just in backgrounds, but in our relationships with ethnic identity and DEI concepts. 💟 The idea that “there are 62 million ways of being Latino” is so powerful. It’s a reminder that our community’s stories are vast and varied, and no single narrative can capture them all. Thank you Cristina Padilla, PhD for uplifting this concept. The reflections on humility and conflict resolution really struck a chord. While these traits don’t apply to everyone, they point to cultural values that can influence how some of us engage in DEI spaces. It’s true—being humble or avoiding conflict might sometimes hold us back from speaking up for ourselves or someone else in charged conversations. I know it has taken me a lot of training to be able to have those difficult conversations while in the journey of self-awareness, unlearning harmful habits and learning healthier ones. It’s a beautiful reminder for all of us in to create spaces where every voice is welcomed, every story is honored, and our collective diversity becomes a strength rather than a challenge. How can we, as a community, keep embracing these “62 million ways of being” while making room for everyone to belong and lead? That’s a challenge worth taking on together.
