Kinship is delighted to announce the launch of its #ValueOurLove campaign manifesto ahead of the #GeneralElection, alongside an interactive constituency map to help MP candidates and voters understand the picture of #KinshipCare in their local area. https://loom.ly/q6O6Ug0 In its manifesto, Kinship is calling on the next Government to go further than the existing National Kinship Care Strategy and ensure #KinshipFamilies aren’t forced to wait any longer for the vital financial, practical and emotional support that they need and deserve.   The manifesto calls on all electoral candidates to commit to equalising support between kinship families and foster and adoptive families in four ways:  💛 Equal financial allowances   💛 Equal paid leave from work   💛 Equal therapeutic and educational support for children   💛 Equal access to training and support   The #ValueOurLove campaign manifesto outlines a plan for how the next Government can maintain the momentum, deliver crucial support, and build a new #KinshipCare system. It's been a packed week and we're delighted to share that support for #KinshipCarers was mentioned in the manifestos of all three mainstream political parties for the time time, which were launched this week ahead of the #GeneralElection 🎉 The Labour Party said: 'Every child should have a loving, secure home. Labour will work with local government to support children in care, including through kinship, foster care, and adoption, as well as strengthening regulation of the children’s social care sector.' 🔴 The Conservative Party committed to: 'prioritising keeping families together where that’s best for the child through our Kinship Care Strategy.' 🔵 Liberal Democrats shared that the would: 'develop a weekly financial allowance for #KinshipCarers, extend Pupil Premium Plus funding to children in #KinshipCare, as well as provide employment leave and pay for kinship carers.' 🟡 Since launching the #ValueOurLove campaign, we've been ensuring that #KinshipCarer voices are being heard across all the main political parties. Many kinship carer campaigners have met with Ministers, Shadow Ministers and MPs from across the political spectrum to tell them what they must do to change the lives of kinship families for the better. It is brilliant to see evidence of the power and the impact of every single #ValueOurLove campaign supporter who has brought #KinshipCare to their attention.✊ But as well as words we need action. We will push the next government, whichever party it may be, to deliver on their commitments to kinship families for the better, using their manifestos to hold them to account.
