Excited to announce that Jordan Wilson from Everyday AI will be joining me as a guest on my podcast on November 14th at 11 AM CST. One of the many reasons I'm thrilled to have Jordan on the podcast is his recent interview with Karrie Sullivan, CEO and Founder of Culminate Strategy Group, where she offered a fresh perspective on AI adoption. Jordan shared this insightful nugget in his newsletter today - check out the infographic below! And, this is also supported by BCG's recent analysis where they showed: - 89% of leaders rank AI and Gen AI as a top 3 tech priority in 2024 - 40+% performance gains for companies using Gen AI - Yet, 6% have companies that have upskilled workers on AI If AI ROI is a challenge, start with upskilling so that you can get the 40% gains that the early adopters are already getting. I recently sat down with creative tech entrepreneur Giancarlo Erra from Promethean Box for a fascinating discussion on the Elevate Your AIQ podcast. We explore the challenges small businesses face in adopting AI, the misconceptions surrounding the technology, and the importance of education and critical thinking in navigating the AI landscape. Not only does Giancarlo build, teach, and mentor in the AI space, he runs AI events in the UK, and somehow has found time to become an accomplished musician as well. I’m consistently in awe of those who can juggle so much, and I really enjoyed hearing Giancarlo’s stories and perspective that should encourage everyone to understand the power and potential of AI across disciplines. Some key highlights from our conversation: 💡 The importance of education and critical thinking in understanding AI's potential and limitations. 💡 The need for society to take responsibility for AI adoption and for the workforce to upskill to adapt to the evolving job market. 💡 Why durable skills such as critical thinking and empathy remain valuable in the face of AI advancements. Below is a teaser on human potential and how AI augments our innate skills, but I encourage you to listen to the full episode for all of Giancarlo’s thought-provoking insights on the future of AI and its impact on skills, education, and employment. Companies need to improve employees' AI literacy. Not just to compete but as of Feb 2nd 2025, this is required by European law. This could prove more difficult to achieve than you think. A recent Boston Consulting Group (BCG) study, showed that only 6% of companies have meaningfully up-leveled leveraging AI. That's a concern for organizations everywhere. Recently, our Senior Principal Expert, Rob van der Veer, was invited to the Progression to Analog podcast, hosted by Caitlin Begg, to discuss AI readiness. "Starting is difficult because it's daunting". – Rob van der Veer In this short snippet, Rob points out why. Organizations have many questions, such as: Are we able to do this? Where do we start? And finding the answers to those questions actually starts with the board. Indeed, the board must be "on board" with the idea of leveraging AI and exploring the opportunities it presents (while also understanding its risks). 👩💼 👨💼 Without top-level alignment, scaling AI efforts becomes an uphill battle. To help organizations bridge this gap, we’ve developed an AI Readiness Guide that outlines practical steps for the board, but also for Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), Security (CISO), and IT & Development (CTO) Is your organization ready to leverage AI and its opportunities? AI is only as good as the data it gets, but what if we're only capturing 20% of the knowledge in our organizations? Where's the rest? It's in people's heads—in their experience, wisdom, and insight. And that's what makes human interaction irreplaceable. When we share knowledge directly, we bring in our unique perspective, context, and understanding that can't just be "written down" or summarized. Imagine AI systems that could leverage not only documented knowledge but also tap into the vast, unstructured expertise across people. That's the future of generative AI—systems designed to empower humans to share, create, and innovate collectively. This is a short clip of my amazing interview with Rebecca Kirstein Resch (she/her) where we took a unique look at the human impact of technology, business, and leadership, particularly how human insight and AI can come together for a smarter future.
