🔍 It's #CyberTipThursday and here are your tips for how to be safe online when scanning QR Codes! 🚨 Tip of the Day: Use your phone's built-in camera app instead of third-party apps. Most smartphones have a built-in QR scanner that’s more secure and less likely to expose you to risks. 🚨 Malicious schemes like "Quishing" can trick you into scanning bad QR codes that can lead to fake websites or download malware. Protect yourself by following these tips & tricks: 🔍 Verify: Always check the web address after scanning. Look for typos or odd characters that signal a scam. 🛡️Authenticate: • Always double-check the code for authenticity and that it is through a trusted channel. • If payment info is requested, contact the company directly through their official site or phone number, just to be safe. 🚫Avoid: • Don't enter personal or financial info on sites accessed via QR codes. • Do not download apps or files directly from QR codes. Stay vigilant and protect your personal information—your online safety is in your hands! 📱🚫 #CyberSecurityAwareness #StaySafeOnline #MississippiOfficeOfHomelandSecurity #MississippiCyberUnit #CyberMonth2024

Google has rolled out Android 15 bringing key safety features to protect our devices at a time when online dangers are more common than ever. One of its best functions is Theft Detection Lock, which uses AI to lock your screen if it spots anything fishy giving you a head start against possible theft. You can also use Remote Lock to secure your phone from anywhere, and if a device stays offline for too long, it will lock itself to stop anyone from getting in without permission. Android 15 offers a Private Space feature for users of sensitive apps. This lets you store these apps in a hidden area that needs extra login keeping your info safe from snoopers. The new Identity Check feature will boost security by requiring a fingerprint or face scan to access important settings. This makes sure you can change things. To fight fraud better, Android 15 hides one-time passwords from pop-ups and makes it harder to install apps from outside sources. This makes it tougher for scammers to find weak spots. With more attacks on key systems, these upgrades are essential to protect our phones and keep critical tech safe. How do you feel about these new security features? Are there other improvements you think are needed to protect mobile devices? Let's talk about how we can all stay ahead of online threats in our world where everything's connected! #Android15 #Cybersecurity #MobileSecurity #DataProtection

Imagine losing your device and a stranger gaining access to your emails, photos, and banking apps. Scary, right? That’s why mobile device security is essential. Start with a strong password or biometric lock. Think of it as the key to your digital vault. For example, using a fingerprint or facial recognition adds an extra layer of security that’s hard to bypass. Next, always download apps from trusted sources, like the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 100% 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟, though, but doing this reduces the risk of installing malicious software. For instance, a fake banking app could steal your login credentials if downloaded from an unverified source. As we emphasized yesterday, regularly update your device’s operating system and apps. These updates often include security patches that protect against new threats. Imagine your device as a fortress; updates are like reinforcing its walls against invaders. Secure your digital life today! Enable strong passwords, download apps wisely, and keep your device updated. Share these tips with friends and family to help them stay safe too. So many people neglect smartphone security because “it’s a phone, not a computer. How could it possibly get a virus?” FYI - it’s a mini computer packed with sensitive information. Your spending habits on that bank app you downloaded...your fingerprint reader...your passwords...the list goes on and on. Here are a few ways to keep your phone secure! 👉🏻Turn on your screen lock and keep it on when not in use 👉🏻Use encryption to protect confidential information stored on your phone 👉🏻Turn your WiFi and Bluetooth OFF when you aren’t using them 👉🏻Install an anti-virus for smartphones if your phone allows it (Androids do) 👉🏻Check permissions before installing an app (and don’t install rogue apps!) 👉🏻Back up your data

Currently available on Pixel and soon to be released for all Android devices, Google announced a stronger protection solution to combat OTP-related frauds and scams. They discussed 2 Key enhancements: Expanded Restricted Settings: Sensitive permissions commonly abused by fraudsters are now better protected. OTP Protection from Malware: OTPs, except for a few trusted apps, will be hidden from notifications, preventing common fraud methods. Additionally, when screen-sharing, notifications will automatically be hidden to protect not just OTPs, but also your credentials like usernames, passwords, and credit card numbers. Yes, you will need to grant extra permissions yourself, but this ensures your information stays secure. #Risolutor #Tech #Technews #News #Google #Android #OTP
