Sisters (and MioCare Group colleagues!) Lisa and Tracy have recently been helping organise collections for Waterhead Rugby Club's Christmas Appeal 2024. And wow...alongside their teammates at Medlock Court and in our Supported Living Service, what a job they've done! A few words from Lisa... 🗣 "My son plays for Waterhead and it's a great club with an amazing community spirit. When we heard about the appeal we quickly got to work, and people have been so generous. We've now donated loads of presents and food hampers. We want to say a massive thanks to everyone who's contributed something to make a child smile this Christmas time." #MadeInOldham

It Takes TWO
We recently carried out a deep clean on the floors at CISCA House, which is a drop-in day centre on Canvey Island that provides a safe and supportive space for people aged over 55. We have been servicing CISCA House for a number of years and take great pride in delivering support to such an important facility for the local community. Our work was incredibly well received - here's what the charity's joint chairpersons had to say: "I wanted to say how impressed we are by the standard of the cleaning/polishing of our main hall floor on Saturday and the two young men who did the job were exemplary." #floorcleaning #commercialcleaning

I’m going to do something I don’t usually do. I’m going to try and tug your heartstrings to separate you from your cash. Many of you know that I’m a Scout volunteer in our local village. Our much-loved hut had to be demolished last month, having reached the end of its life. So we want to raise money to get a new one. But why should you fork out for this? Why is this cause more deserving than any of the myriad others that you’re asked to contribute to? Well, I think that a fit-for-purpose community facility has an impact by stealth. It isn’t a here-today gone-tomorrow kind of project. It can be a focal point and haven for a whole village, over many years – our previous building was in use from 1976, and saw generations of Scouts, Guides, playgroups, Sunday Schools, kids’ parties and many others under its roof. A properly-designed building that’s pleasant to use also attracts more volunteers, which means that more people can benefit from activities held there. Obviously, Scouts and Guides are open to every child, no matter what their circumstances. But I think they are particularly valuable for the neurodivergent kids who perhaps struggle to access other activities – something I have personal experience of. One of my proudest moments was presenting the Chief Scout’s Bronze award to a lad who’d previously been asked to leave other after-school clubs. So, to prove how much I personally care about this, I am going to put myself through 100km of non-stop misery, along the Thames Path. I'm fat and middle-aged with a dodgy knee, so it's not going to be easy. But if it was easy it wouldn't be worth doing, right? I have 705 connections on LinkedIn. If everyone donated just £1, that would take us a long way forward, and would take my mind off how much my legs are going to hurt at 78km. #Scouts #goodforyou https://lnkd.in/efR4urcE

"The more things change, the more they are the same." — Alphonse Karr I confess to being a bit emotional and thankful for peoples generous donations following my callout to the fundraiser charity skydive https://lnkd.in/eyaVxZKW (15,000 feet leap of faith, traveling at 125 mph) organised by Nottingham Playhouse– my wife Serena did ask me to check my insurance! Less than a week to go before the big day and no shame on my part in asking those that may have missed this to give what you can. In the words of a certain supermarket “every little helps”. As a reminder, on Friday 24 May, I will be joining 37 brave foolish WTF of my Nottingham Playhouse colleagues (I am Interim Head of Finance) to skydive from 15,000 feet to help raise funds to support Shine, a community-based participation project. Shine provides free weekly theatre in over 12 locations across Nottinghamshire. Please give what you can, share if able and I won’t be embarrassed if you decide to give a big wedge of cash, and share my request far and wide. The numbers part of me has to add that as an added bonus, individual donors get tax relief and save tax, corporate donors can offset these donations against corporation tax Maddy Alexander-Grout Neil Lawrence Dr Jo North

In hiring spaces you are helping young lives and familes recieve vital support. Often familes may have more than one child needing support. By hiring spaces you are helping the lives of Carers the people that they support and siblings. Children and Young adults need to feel they are not alone and can receive help for mental health concerns quickly, growing friendships with their peers, gaining confidence to cope with difficulty. By hiring a room vital funds raised help our children and young adults in our Community find confidence and feel less isolated. NHS can you hire a room ? Social services? Church Away Days ? Well done to an incredible group of supporters who all climbed to the top of Pen Y Fan on 20 July. Despite the fog descending mid hike, their goal was clear and they raised over £2500 to support homeless young people and women and children affected by domestic abuse. Huge thanks to everyone who participated and those who donated to support their fundraising efforts.

Yesterday, a subset of our Liberty IT Consulting team returned to Simon Community housing in Lisburn. We were invested - we had given the rear garden open space a good overhaul last year, and wanted to both see how it had improved, and see what else we can do to improve it. The morning started the same as last year - our co-ordinator gave us a talk about the vital services Simon provided. The statistics around homelessness in Northern Ireland are truly shocking: - 55000 people officially homeless; 1 person in 34! This number is higher, as there is hidden homelessness in the form of couch-surfing. - 80000 people waiting for social housing across Northern Ireland - Homeless has doubled since 2013 - Demographically, there is a significantly higher proportion of males who are homeless, they make up 2/3 of the number. - Female homelessness is on the rise, up to 33% However, there is good news too; - 433 tenancy agreements to date - that is 433 individuals/families who are moved into a more sustainable rental accommodation - 18 "Creating Homes" created - effectively building a turnkey home for individuals. Simon provides a lifeline for individuals and families who have been negatively impacted by the cost of living, the lack of affordable housing, and many other adverse life factors. We were privileged to witness this in action; while we were there, one of the residents was given a tenancy agreement, bringing the number up to 434, and a really emotional moment for all of us, as he told us his circumstances that lead to homelessness (escaping a domestic abuse situation), and that he had found love, and was now a home to build a new foundation. This was so inspiring. From the workfront, we were delighted to see that the garden was looking good, and had minimal improvements to make - we got to work weeding, replanting, cutting out some dead branches, hedging and painting. It was a solid days work, and as HAYLEY RUFFOLD said, it's the best form of Team Building!! Hope to go back again next year and continue to improve! Serve with Liberty is a fantastic initiative, and one of the best days of the year!
Today I was privileged to take a day away from the desk and get involved in Serve with Liberty. We had the opportunity to spend time together as a team, helping the Lisburn Simon Community, an amazing charity which provides support and accommodation to people who are at risk of homelessness in Northern Ireland. We painted, weeded, planted and tidied up an outside area. Thank you for the opportunity to get involved! Liberty IT
