The hardest part of running a business? For me, it's gotta be hiring. It's the aspect of business ownership with the most twists, turns, and ups and downs. Here's how I usually go about hiring graphic designers: 🪜Step 1: I review potential candidates' portfolios to see if their style aligns with Sur La Mur’s - because a cohesive vision is everything. 🪜Step 2: I request a quick test project to see their skills in action. 🪜Step 3: We begin a trial period in-office. One thing that's essential to me is seeing how the whole team vibes together, complementing each other's strengths and encouraging each other to do better - only good energy is on-brand at SLM. And yes, that's in-office, as in all of us working in one place to create magic. The environment of my whole team being together is essential to me. #BusinessOwners out there - what's your approach to finding the right team members? #Designers - I'm always looking to grow my team. If you're passionate about turning walls into art through the power of design, let's connect! #design #businessowner #wallpaper

Hiring a designer BRIDGES the gap between abstract ideas and tangible outputs… Okay, just kidding. I’m finding showing up as a “personal brand” a bit strange. I don’t have the perfect photo of myself at a Pinterest-worthy desk setup, and still no professional headshots. I could show you my squinty designer face with my permanently smudged glasses, but that doesn’t look very nice. Instead, here’s a photo of me on a beautiful bridge in Italy. All jokes aside, working with a designer does bridge lots of gaps. We’re really good at visualising concepts and simplifying complex ideas into things that are easy to engage with. And we’re really great at lateral thinking. Ciao for now x #FreelanceDesigner #GraphicDesigner #DigitalDesigner

6 reasons why external graphic designers can be a cost-effective option for SMEs 👇🏻 From my time working for organisations in the first half of my career, I have an insight into the minefield resourcing for design work is. Many of my clients started working with me for this reason. They needed a design expert to hit the ground running, take on their graphic design projects, and free up the rest of the team. The biggest reason I see other businesses not doing the same is cost. There's a myth that external designers are really expensive. But that's not always the case. These are the reasons why we can be a cost-effective option: 1. high level of expertise → efficient project execution 2. flexible hiring → saves on in-house team costs 3. access to cutting-edge tools → no upfront expenses 4. established skills → reduce training costs 5. direct communication → quicker decision-making 6. fresh perspective → innovative solutions If you've been on the fence about hiring an external graphic designer, feel free to message me and I'd be happy to have a chat 😊 #branddesign #SMEsupport #SMEbranding #SMEgraphicdesign #startupsupport

Graphic Designers: Myth Busters Edition Part ✌ Quick, what do you picture when you think of graphic designers? Hipsters with giant glasses and espresso cups, slaving away at their Macs to make the world more beautiful? Let's bust some myths about these quirky creatures and reveal the hilarious truths behind the rumors! Myth: Graphic designers are just all about making stuff pretty. Reality: Not so fast, amigo! Graphic designers are like Batman, using their creativity and problem-solving skills to save the day with designs that speak louder than words. POW! Myth: Graphic design is a piece of cake, anyone can do it. Reality: Haha, oh you sweet summer child! Graphic design requires a unique blend of skills, from eye-catching aesthetics to technical wizardry that only the design pros possess. You got served! Myth: Graphic designers are glued to their screens 24/7. Reality: Wait, hold up! These guys break out their paper and pencils like it's going out of style, doodling, brainstorming, and experimenting with all sorts of cool mediums. They're like MacGyver, but with art supplies. Myth: Graphic design is a lonely island. Reality: Are you kidding me? Graphic designers are the ultimate cheese to your wine, working with clients, teammates, and even the office plant to bring their creative visions to life. They're like a big bowl of guac, bringing everyone together in delicious harmony. Myth: Trends are everything in graphic design. Reality: Pfft, trends. While keeping an eye on what's hot is cool and all, graphic designers craft timeless, original designs that capture hearts and minds for the long haul. They're like unicorns, except they exist and they make the world a better place. So in conclusion, graphic designers are the real deal, blending creativity, teamwork, and a sprinkle of magic to make our world a more beautiful and engaging place. And yes, they wear giant glasses and drink espresso, but mostly because they're cool like that. Hiring managers, please don’t expect graphic designers to be Martian Manhunters who can transform into a UI/UX specialist, video editor, programmer, and floor sweeper all at once. #DesignHumor #GraphicsDesigner #GraphicDesignMythBusters #DesignMavericks #HipsterCred #HiringManagers

Hey guys, I’m Adeela Azam ofcourse your next Graphics Designer! Today, let’s laugh a little with some classic bad habits every designer can relate to (I’m guilty too!). Here’s a roundup of some of my habits (probably yours too,)that make the graphic design journey hilariously unique: . I Never Start Work 𝑼𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆’𝒔 𝑷𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝑻𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒘 🕒 Deadlines? More like start-lines for the night-before adrenaline rush! . 𝑬𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝑨𝒕𝒕𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏 Every pixel, every layer—it's like watching my baby grow! Until…the client says, “𝓒𝓪𝓷 𝔀𝓮 𝓬𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓰𝓮 𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻𝔂𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰?” . Greeting Client Feedback with…𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜! Deep breaths as I read, “Can you make it pop more?” What exactly is a ‘pop,’ by the way? . 𝑰’𝒅 𝑵𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 (𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓) 𝑼𝒔𝒆 𝑮𝒐𝒐𝒈𝒍𝒆 𝑰𝒎𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒔… 😆But, let’s admit—finding the perfect stock image is a whole other journey. . These quirks are what make us designers so fun, though! We may have a few “𝒃𝒂𝒅” 𝒉𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒕𝒔, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚’𝒓𝒆 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒅𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 ✨ ✨ #GraphicDesigner #DesignHumor #CreativeProcess #owners #brand #digitalmarketing #innovation #uk #usa #letsconect #leads #founder #ceo #hiring #remotejob
