It's Monday. Again, I receive messages from people, from companies, that they are caught up in many projects in the fall, that they don't have time... It's Monday, and my stream is invaded by serious economic and political topics, conferences about how AI impacts us, a news story about an employee of a big four who dies of burnout in another country, the layoffs situation of technology companies. Among them some good vibes posts about how we should not encourage toxic work environments, about humanity. Beyond that, I think that sometimes in these September-October months, when everyone is caught up in serious discussions and conferences with important themes (does they change anything?) - I think we need to take a break to be human, to be playful, to look at the people around us and to encourage their passions. We are changing something, of course small things, but changes come from people. Smile with smile, team with team, coffee with coffee, Code2Cup. #code2cup #festivalvibes #teams #peoplematter #takeabreak #reprioritisation

I'm grateful for TechSynergy! 🤗 🫂 It's Day 3 of my appreciation week, and on my gratitude list today is the TechSynergy team. When I found out about TechSynergy through a senior colleague and mentor, I honestly didn't expect so much. I went through their website and only thought two things: 1. They were too good to be true, or 2. I wasn't exactly good enough as a new PM I mean, how on earth could there be a platform whose mission was to help business owners build their products at very low upfront cost, while providing valuable experience to junior tech talents such as myself? 🤔 Well, it's seven months down the line and not only has TechSynergy been the source of my biggest experience as a PM yet (via the Swapify project, more about this tomorrow), I've also been fortunate to work with the team. From my interviews with Onis and Tomiwa, to working with Jesse, Queen, Damilola, Abiola, Onyemowo, and others, in a #marketing capacity, I've been very privileged to receive and give back as well. I'm grateful for the leadership and my colleagues, for mentors, senior friends, product owners, and every tech talents that makes up the TechSynergy community. If you're a junior tech talent still trying to break into the tech space, you can sign up at https://techsynergy.io, and get the chance to work on real products that solve real problems on an international scale. You can also join us tomorrow for a fun time at our end of the year community hangout. There's amazing prizes to be won, and we'd have lots of fun. More details in the flyer. Link in the comments section. See you tomorrow! 😀 😁 #thankful #TechSynergy #growth #family #techtalent

Working with ScaleX has been more than just a career journey; it’s been a learning experience that grows deeper each year. One of the things I look forward to most is our annual retreat—this time in #Bangalore —where I get to meet the faces behind the #emails, #messages, and #campaigns we bring to life together. Every time we meet, I’m reminded of the #power of #collaboration and #connection. These moments show me how each of us brings a unique perspective and skill, and how, together, we create something bigger than the sum of our parts. From creative problem-solving to those casual conversations that spark new ideas, it’s a reminder that work is so much more than tasks on a screen. Here’s to the #teamwork, the #friendships, and the continuous #growth that come with every year at ScaleX. Looking forward to seeing where we go from here! P.S. - Comment a 🤞 if you find yourself in this picture! #LearningTogether #Teamwork #WorkWithFun #ScaleX

Things need to be meaningful to matter to me, and in recent years, I felt like I was losing some of that meaning and passion. Reflecting on my journey so far, I asked myself: Why did I want to start this career in tech, to begin with? For the interest I already had in it in a time when you couldn't step out the door without seeing an AOL installation CD? Definitely. For community, stability, and the ability to lead the life I want? Absolutely. But those things don’t define my passion for this field. For that, I needed to look even further back. It might be silly, but my interest in this started when I was a young Millennial, growing up with the internet and media that reflected that growth: • Web 1.0 and Early 2.0 Pioneers: Crafting intensely creative personal spaces and niches on the internet as their unique means of connection and self-expression. • Otacon, from "Metal Gear Solid": Showing tech can be used to enact positive change in our world. • Piros the 3rd, from ".hack//GU": Demonstrating what a life following passion and creativity in a tech career can be like. The Internet is not only a place for financial transactions, political agendas, and advertising. It is a place built by people, for people. A domain of connectivity, creativity, freedom of expression, and so much more. Those are the elements that caused me to fall in love with this field from a young age, and it turns out I still carry them to this day! So, I’m curious: What inspired you to work in tech? We were all children once—has this always been your dream, inspired by things you saw or experiences you had? Are you here for the money? The challenge? What does this path mean to you? After all, when hard times come, that meaning is what helps pull us through. #devlife #lifeintech #inspiration

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝑫𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝑻𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝑨𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝑻𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 🧑🏾🤝🧑🏻 Have you ever had to work in a team—maybe on a project in college or at work—where it feels like you’re the only one seeing things clearly? Or perhaps you all just can't agree on something, or worse, you seem to be the only one pulling your weight. How about situations where there’s a common goal to meet, but you find yourself constantly having to correct and instruct people? I’ve been there countless times, and unfortunately, working with people will always come with some form of conflict or disagreement. So, what exactly do you do in frustrating situations like this? Here are some lessons I’ve learned from my years of working in teams to deliver projects: 🔹 Don't pick up everyone's slack: It may seem tempting, especially if you’re a perfectionist, but this just encourages your team members to be lazy and never do the work. 🔹 As a team leader, delegate tasks according to strengths and capabilities: People generally perform better in areas they enjoy. Consciously try to assign tasks based on what you know each person excels at or enjoys. 🔹 Prioritize team success by involving leadership when needed: Never be afraid to address underperformance directly. Confront the individual nicely and give a few chances. If the issue persists, escalate the matter to a higher authority to prevent compromising the team's goals. These are just a few things I’ve learned. I’d love to hear from you—what have you learned from working in a team? 🍀 𝑺𝒆𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒚 𝒑𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 ? 🍀 Hi, I’m Vodina Efem. I am a full-stack software developer with experience in building scalable applications that help businesses solve their problems. I love to speak and write about topics that pique my interest. I want to share three true stories of people in tech who stood out because they talked about their vision and ideas instead of tearing down others. 🤩 One friend talked about "being in service to the community" and followed through by helping others find their first job in tech. I watched him share advice, make introductions, and set up opportunities for others to find mentors. Karma repaid him tenfold with opportunities and a legion of supporters. 🤩 Another friend was big on being part of others' journeys into tech and opening doors to rooms where that next-level conversation was happening. I watched him mentor person after person until he had a broad circle of over-achievers surrounding him. I didn't understand why he wanted to be in rooms with others until I saw him make big boss moves. He was quietly learning and absorbing knowledge. 🤩 A third friend was quiet until he would show up and show out. He believed in being an expert at your craft and sharing that knowledge. I watched his career rise because others saw that passion for excellence, not drama. When we were in the same space, he always led with positivity, compassion, and humor. 💓 I would love to hear other examples of people with visions lifting the community. Shout them out in the comments. If you like my content, feel free to follow or connect! #memTech #community #tech #RaisingTheTechTideInMemphis #Memphis
