✊OP-ED ALERT: Even if you don’t see yourself as an “activist” or the marching type, there is room for everyone in the movement towards a more just and sustainable present and future. We show up for system change with the votes we cast, the protests we attend, the voices we amplify, and the causes we advocate for – in small gestures and grand actions, write Claire Rousell, Lisa Makaula, Aphiwe Ngalo, Geronimo De Klerk, Afika Ndlela and Stella Hertantyo on why we marched for System Change last week and the many ways we can move from protest to progress. 🌍 While creating the demands for the mass action on 21 March 2024, civil society groups and March for Systems Change organisers identified six intersecting areas, forming part of the current social and ecological crisis, that need urgent attention to create a more just and sustainable society. 🌱 “It has never been clearer that the dominant systems are failing the majority of people and that the world is ripe for systems change. While it may seem as though there are no coherent alternatives, the seeds of new systems are growing from the ground up.” 🔗 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/dWm-yC5w #MarchForSystemChange

I love this post on Jessica Pang-Parks MES, CVA blog, a conversation with Faiza Venzant, CVA about the Equity in Action toolkit, and more broadly about equity as a value in volunteer management. As volunteer managers approach #IVMDay24 tomorrow and reflect on our new normal, conversations about equity must be centered in our work, this blog really demonstrates why.

Here's proof. Socially Responisble Public procurement can create innovative housing solutions. 🏘️ In Seville, Spain, it works. Listen to Samuel Barco, Expert on Socially Responsible Public Procurement, explaining how Seville City Council did it: After preliminary market dialogues, they invited social organisations through a competitive process to develop community housing cooperatives. The buildings are constructed and owned by the cooperative itself. https://lnkd.in/dV2PFkuM #WeBuySocialEU

For six months, our campaign has been crisscrossing the country to deliver a message about how we can forge a new civic path. At a time when people are fed up with our politics, this civic campaign is spreading across the nation. Here's 3 takeaways as to why. 1) When traditional candidates only go where their voters are, this campaign is embraced by communities across the political spectrum. 2) When people feel immense fear and anxiety over the direction of the country, this campaign is providing comfort and hope. 3) When everything seems stuck, this campaign is showing people a practical path forward that starts in their local communities. It’s clear to us. More politics won’t solve the challenges facing our communities today. But we can forge a civic path that creates real change. Let’s go together. https://bit.ly/4e4Dssb
