The Midlands has been critical to UK energy security and economic growth for over a century. A new White Paper from the Midlands Engine, whom we’ve been delighted to support, shows that the region is ready to lead again. The transition from fossil fuels to clean energy is the critical challenge and biggest opportunity of our time. This report shows that the region has the right mix of talent, innovative businesses and thriving communities to meet the challenge and seize the opportunity of creating a sustainable future. Within the report are practical actions for government and industry to take, from investing in local talent, training the next generation for green jobs to supporting businesses to create solutions that work for their communities. This includes £20bn of investment potential and the opportunity to create nearly 200,000 green jobs by 2041. E.ON UK are already showing what’s possible. Through our collaboration with Coventry City Council, we are delivering innovative solutions that bring benefits to people today, such as combining insulation, battery installation and time of use tariffs, as well as investing in the city’s energy infrastructure of the future. Our belief is that, by working with cities and communities, we can lower bills for all, help make businesses more competitive and decarbonise. To move faster we need to address outdated market rules, tackle policy costs that unfairly inflate electricity bills and invest in the technology that makes a clean energy system work for customers. The Midlands has always been a powerhouse, now it’s time to power the clean energy future. https://lnkd.in/emGiYPBj #CleanEnergy #MidlandsEngine #Innovation #Skills #EnergySecurity
