Raising public awareness is just as crucial as implementing any initiative. Effective awareness campaigns educate and engage the community, fostering a greater understanding of the issues at hand. This understanding can lead to more informed decisions, increased participation, and stronger support for initiatives. Public awareness helps to highlight the importance of the cause, build trust, and mobilize resources. It also creates a sense of shared responsibility and empowers individuals to take action, ultimately driving more impactful and sustainable outcomes. Without adequate awareness, even the best initiatives may struggle to gain traction and achieve their goals. To this end, here is an other effort on my end to spread awarness around labour rights, specifically fundamental. https://lnkd.in/dzDyfV4q

It's Equal Pay Day! Did you know women earn 84 cents for every dollar men make — and sometimes less? You can advocate raising awareness around the impact of pay inequities and supporting those who support narrowing the gap on this and many other issues important to women and families. Make sure you are registered to vote and do it! Act now! https://loom.ly/sCjsGVw Join us today and demand Congress take action to close the gender pay gap by passing needed legislation - because in 2024, women working in the United States should not earn less than men. The Paycheck Fairness Act (S.728 / H.R.17) would strengthen the Equal Pay Act of 1963 by protecting workers from retaliation for discussing pay, banning the use of prior salary history to set wages, codifying pay data collection, and closing critical loopholes that allow employers to pay workers unfairly. #genderwagegap #equalpayday #congress #actnow #paycheckfairnessact #womenandfamily #YWomenVote #TowardEquality #GOTV #WomenAreVoting #YWCA #YWCASHR #EliminateRacism #EmpowerWomen #YWCAIsOnAMission

The United Nations’ Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) provide that human rights impacts must be assessed and addressed with reference to internationally recognised human rights as a minimum baseline. The internationally recognised human rights are those enshrined in the key international and regional frameworks, namely: • the International Bill of Rights (comprising the UN Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights); • the International Labour Organisation’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work; and • the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights. The are 30+ internationally recognised human rights which are categorised under: 1. Civil / political rights (such as the right to freedom, equality and dignity, or the right of access to an effective remedy); 2. Social / cultural rights (such as the right to freedom of opinion, expression and information, or the right to self-determination); 3. Labour rights (such as the right to just and favourable working conditions, or to freedom from slavery or forced labour (including child labour)); 4. Environmental rights (such as the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment, or the right of access to clean water); and 5. Welfare rights (such as the right to life, liberty and security of the person, or the right to to property and freedom from forced evictions). New age challenges will see the recognition of additional basic human rights, such as the UN 2021 resolution which recognises the right of access to the internet to be a human right in and of itself, as well as an enabler for ensuring the full enjoyment of all human rights.
