The decision of what you want to do for the rest of your life is difficult at any age, especially in high school. You really have no idea what is all out there to explore, no one does. We can’t expect the schools to know every possible career for our children. That is why this partnership between the schools, businesses, and government is so important. Businesses need people. We need to be there to inform our future generations what all is out there. To be there to support the schools by giving the students information to make a more educated decision on their future. So many people go off to college not knowing what they want to do or finish college, not using the degree they went for. This program can help with that. It helps give the students more information about the careers they are interested in and ones that may not have known were an option. It provides them the ability to job shadowing, internships, Co-op’s. These experiences are so valuable. It can either solidify what they want to do or show that path is not for them. Both are great outcomes! Whether they need a 2yr, 4yr, a Master’s degree for their career, they learn on the job, or other post-secondary education. All these take time and money, and this program can help them not waste either. Businesses need to support this program, for the future of our children and our businesses.

The age-old question - what do I want to do with my life? Deciding what a person wants to do for a career is one of the most important decisions they can make and has long term consequences. Valuable information is a necessity and needs to be made available. Businesses are asking where do I find the people that will help us meet our mission? How can I get my message out there to the students, counselors, and parents? Cradle to Career is working to help answer these questions, so if you're interested, and want to be involved here's a great way to get started. #careerawarness #workforcedevelopment

Kansas career posters show different career paths students can follow. Each poster lists job examples in three categories: Now, Next, and Later. These categories highlight jobs students can get right after high school and future roles they can achieve with more education, training, or experience. Another Incredible Week at Purdue!! ✨ I'm so grateful that, so early into the semester, Purdue University has already set us up for success with an amazing experience at the Industrial Roundtable. Shout out to Purdue Engineering Student Council for managing the IR so well! Attending a career fair was a brand-new experience for me, and while the idea of talking about yourself all day seemed daunting at first, it turned out to be an incredibly rewarding process. Navigating long lines (sometimes waiting for an hour or two!) and running from one booth to another to connect with as many people as possible was all part of the hustle—and worth every moment. This experience taught me so much—whether it’s mastering the art of being concise in those quick 5-10 minute conversations, staying sharp for on-the-spot STAR format questions, or clearly defining your goals and why you’re interested in specific roles and companies. It was challenging, exhilarating, and full of invaluable lessons. Beyond finding job opportunities, the career fair was more about making genuine connections. I learned a lot from industry professionals, heard first hand about their journeys, met Purdue alumni, and gained insights into the companies' long-term goals. I’m excited to continue nurturing these connections and applying what I’ve learned as I continue my journey at Purdue! 🚀 #BoilerUp #PurdueUniversity #CareerFair #Networking #IndustrialRoundtable #ProfessionalDevelopment #CareerOpportunities

Here is a peek into UTA’s Next Generation Creator Economy Career Summit at our Los Angeles campus, designed to introduce students to a range of job opportunities related to representing digital-first talent and brands. The day featured five panels led by UTA Creators agents, executives, and talent as well as a pitch competition during which participants presented their business ideas for today’s top digital talent. (Congrats to Connor Tuite, who was voted the winner by his peers and the judges!). According to a Wall Street Journal report, based on research from Goldman Sachs, the creator economy is projected to reach a value of nearly half a trillion dollars by 2027, setting the stage for a new landscape of career opportunities at the intersection of entertainment, media, and technology. Thank you to Chamberlain Coffee and Poppi for their event partnership.

Not sure which admit/university to go for? ⬇️ In current economy and job market, I suggest you prioritize those programs that can help you find jobs most easily. You can do this by going for: 🔆Top rank universities typically attract good employers and solid career fairs, so if you have an option, choose a higher (top 20ish) ranked program 🔆Big city location have many employers around and they come to hire students on campus, so do prefer locations like NYC, Silicon Valley, Boston, Chicago, Austin, Dallas, LA, Seattle if you can Second thing I would prioritize is cost of attendance. An imp note here: don’t just look for cheaper tuition fee but look for net cost of attendance i.e. what you have to pay = tuition fee - possible funding amount (TA/RA etc) Other factors which may be important to some of you: - Warmer climate (yes it matters a lot in keeping you happy and mentally healthy) - Curriculum and faculty - Cultural exposure (diverse student body etc) Last but MOST important - there is NO perfect choice, you win some you lose some. This is why it’s important to introspect what matters the most to YOU. Hope this helps! #scholarstrategy #24northstar

Had a great opportunity to speak at my alumna mater last week for Career Fair! 🐻 Not too long ago I was sitting in those same seats with big dreams, determined to chase them. In high school, I spent my time holding a top leadership position in every club, attended conferences in DC & a variety of other places, volunteered, maintained all As, played school, competitive sports, & kept my friends close. The need for a very detailed color-coded calendar & spreadsheets started here. Every day was planned down to the minute. Exhaustion couldn’t consume me if I was doing what I loved. This drive for involvement and leadership carried over into college. My high school resume helped me land leadership positions within my sorority and other clubs I would join throughout college. All this to say, you don’t have to be a color-coded calendar planning every day down to the minute involved in everything girl to be successful. I look back on those years knowing many of those experiences prepared me to reach my professional goals. However, it was the drive & determination to improve processes for the people around me that ultimately allowed me the opportunity to be apart of these organizations. I knew focusing solely on my career would not resonate with the students. Unless you are the color-coded calendar planning everything down to the minute girl, you probably don’t know that you want to be in Healthcare Administration in your teens. But an important field for the next generation to be exposed to. After my brief career spiel, I continued with three main themes: 1️⃣Have confidence in yourself, you have to sell personality & why you’re the person they need. Betting on yourself is the greatest bet you’ll ever make. 2️⃣Invest in opportunities that will encourage you to continuously learn. For me, that was pursuing grad school directly after undergrad and becoming apart of external orgs. Healthcare is constantly evolving, so you have to commit to continuous learning to be effective. 3️⃣Small town does not mean no opportunities. Butler gave me more than I could have asked for. I got to experience more in four years than my peers at bigger schools. The opportunities are out there, but you have to have the drive and determination to seek them. As my trusted advisor, Mel Robbins says, no one is going to make you - you have to want it for yourself. Chasing your dreams & being met with bumps in the road is not easy, but the outcome is so worth it. If you made it this far - share your experiences with the next generation! Somewhere is a kid sitting in class with graduation quickly approaching & lacking the encouragement to seek out opportunities beyond those four walls. Imagine how your story can inspire them to reach their full potential✨

What an incredible turnout at Michigan Technological University's Michigan Day Career Fest! Hundreds of students had the chance to explore career opportunities with top companies from across the state, including 13 U.P. employers. As a region, the U.P is blessed with nearly 20,000 higher-ed students. According to Amy Berglund of InvestUP, for a rural region, this is “significant” and reflects why this is “a great opportunity to introduce students to the U.P. employers, and also the U.P. employers to the students.” With MTU enrollment surging to 7,430 and earning accolades for early career salaries, the Michigan Day Career Fest couldn’t come at a better time! This paired momentum is creating exciting opportunities for both students and U.P. employers.
