Just a quick insight: GPT-4 Turbo is three times less (!!) expensive than GPT-4. Ironically, I wanted to save by using "just" GPT-4, yet I ended up spending three times as much. Moreover, GPT-3.5 Turbo is twenty times less expensive than GPT-4 Turbo. This revelation prompts a reconsideration of whether one's use-case genuinely requires GPT-4 or higher.

From now on, you will get incremental versions of GPT, and the model versions and names from GPT-4.1 to GPT-5 are as follows: . . . (This is a joke.)

Using gpt-4o-mini-audio-preview appears to be "better" and cheaper than whisper-1 producing better contextually aware output and can be used within same code base/workflow with multi-modality like gpt-4o, Flash, Claude, etc.

Not every application needs the power of GPT-4o. Yes, it's one of the most powerful models in the market today. But it’s trained on a massive amount of data from all over the internet, in almost every topic and every language, and that makes it expensive, slow and unnecessary in most cases. for many tasks, simpler models can get the job done faster and more efficiently. Why would you need a model that speaks 100 languages to summaries English documents? It’s all about understanding which model works best for the task.
