Our latest project Opus, at Bankside Yards, marks a significant milestone in London's ever-evolving skyline, standing out as the UK's first major mixed-use estate to be entirely free from fossil fuels. In this recent article by Knight Frank, we explore this burgeoning ecosystem that is now emerging as a micro-city own its own right. Over in the City, ONE BISHOPSGATE PLAZA brings a novel perspective to the traditional context of a historical plaza serving as multifunctional hub for the community. Urban Design is a bridging discipline in complex systems that centres on relationships and partnerships for a liveable world. This message resonated with me at the recent Urban Design Round Table - Shaping Liveable Cities through Urban Design, hosted by Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore (URA) on 13 November 2024. Invited speakers Joe Berridge, Wataru Tanaka and Christopher Lee shared their experiences in - A Global Perspective on Designing Better Cities. In this case new development helps to upgrade the surrounding neighbourhoods.” Urbanist and partner Daan Zandbelt stated in an interview earlier this year.   On 17 October, De Zwarte Hond, in collaboration with Independent School for the City, organizes an event on proximity, urbanization and station areas. Additionally, speakers will present relevant, concrete examples from Paris and the Netherlands.   Besides Daan Zandbelt, Patricia Pelloux of Apur - Atelier parisien d'urbanisme and Delft’s city architect Tako Postma will be speaking. Patricia will highlight urban developments in Paris, where the concepts of the 15-minute city and transport-oriented development are key principles guiding the urbanisation of the Greater Paris region.
