💬 Is it time for the asset finance industry to fully disclose commission? Transparency is a hot topic in the financial services world, and nowhere is it more relevant than in asset finance. This article asks a crucial question: should the industry embrace full disclosure of commissions to improve trust and fairness? Here’s my take: While transparency is non-negotiable in building trust with customers, the path to full disclosure isn’t straightforward. We need to ask: - Will disclosing commission structures genuinely help customers make better-informed decisions, or will it lead to confusion without proper context? - How can the industry strike a balance between transparency and competitive differentiation? - And crucially, how do we standardize practices across a fragmented market to ensure fair play without stifling innovation? I believe there’s a real opportunity here for the asset finance industry to lead the charge on transparency, not just as a regulatory obligation but as a strategic advantage. Customers value honesty—and businesses that embrace this can set themselves apart. But to get it right, the focus must be on meaningful transparency: clear explanations, contextualized data, and education for customers, not just a flood of numbers that may overwhelm rather than inform. What’s your view? Is the industry ready to take this leap? 🚀 #AssetFinance #Transparency #Trust #CustomerExperience

Interesting article, and always good to understand the views and practicalities around the ruling, where the courts determined that brokers owe a duty to consumers to fully disclose any commissions received from lenders and that they should be obtaining the customer's informed consent.
Very useful article from addressing concerns and practicalities our industry has over commission disclosure. https://lnkd.in/ehRei2fx

This is an interesting article from RIAIntel on why more brokers are transitioning to RIAs: "Overall, an RIA’s independence gives an advisor the freedom to operate in a way that best serves clients, without the product limitations and conflicts of interest that can arise in traditional financial advisory models." https://lnkd.in/gVQUB9-x
