Financial Times has this week reported on a new study which finds more than half of the US's biggest companies have cited AI technology as a potential hazard in their latest annual reports. In the study, released by Arize AI, a research platform which tracks public disclosures by large businesses, it was found that 56% of Fortune 500 companies cited AI as a ''risk factor'' in their most recent annual reports, increasing from just 9% in 2022. The data highlighted that some industries are more worried about AI than others, with more than 90% of the largest US media and entertainment companies, and 86% of software and tech groups, noting a business risk due to AI.
