After putting some clean time together, some of us have a tendency to forget what our most important priority is. Once a week or less we say, "I've gotta get to a meeting tonight. It's been.. " We've been caught up in other things, important for sure, but no more so than our continued participation in Narcotics Anonymous. It happens gradually. We get jobs. We reunite with our families. We're raising children, the dog is sick, or we're going to school at night. The house needs to be cleaned. The lawn needs to be mowed. We have to work late. We're tired. There's a good show at the theater tonight. And all of a sudden, we notice that we haven't called our sponsor, been to a meeting, spoken to a newcomer, or even talked to God in quite a while. What do we do at this point? Well, we either renew our commitment to our recovery, or we continue being too busy to recover until something happens and our lives become unmanageable. Quite a choice! Our best bet is to put more of our energy into maintaining the foundation of recovery on which our lives are built. That foundation makes everything else possible, and it will surely crumble if we get too busy with everything else. Just for today: I can't afford to be too busy to recover. I will do something today that sustains my recovery. We are here to help. #d is both a philosophy and and action mandate. I have to tell you the story of how I came to know Goddess Matula through my writing friend Genius Turner As a writer on Medium - one of my greatest pleasures is connecting with unique folks who have a hot take fueled by kindness and the #PartnershipParadigm. That’s how I came to connect with Genius. He’s a talented writer and intuitive manifester - making the most of a challenging origin to rise up and spread the parsed out truth of The Genius Mindset: His specialty? Cutting through the BS of the modern world with an intersectional scalpel, and a style all his own. He’s also a popular writer on Quora and a psycho-spiritual weaver who doesn’t pull any punches. He’s also very real. Goddess Matula is his talent manager. And lest you be distracted by her physical beauty and his too-good-to-be-true name, let me tell you. These folks are as magical as they appear on first glimpse. Who am I? A hippie earthy 48 year old intellectual with poetic tendencies. And yet, the energetic support I get from these folks is 100% real. So when Goddess talks, I listen. I guarantee she’s more than a pretty face. When Genius writes, I read it. The truth he spits goes deep into the real. And that’s where we meet. In the real. After all the BS of the world today, is that not what you’re craving? I sure am. So take note when Goddess speaks. It’s deep and beautiful all at once. Let’s take care of each other. Let’s recognize the spiritual plyometrics of the game. Nothing else will do. #onelove #appreciation #real

"Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth” —Muhammad Ali Yesterday my morning didn’t start off the greatest. 😏 When feeling a tad down, I usually turn to the universal principle of reciprocity. The principle goes something like this: ➡️ If you’re feeling down… lift someone else up. 🤗 ➡️ If you want love… give love. ❤️ ➡️ If you want knowledge… give knowledge. 📚 Why? Giving is receiving turned inside-out, dahling… …And so, at least once monthly, I try my best to volunteer at a homeless shelter. 🙏 “Hey, Elsa from ‘Frozen’ is back to see us!” one of the mainstays joked. From at-risk youth to the elderly, shelters and covenants provide shelter to the shelter-less. 📿 Without fail, offering a helping hand to others helps us, too. And so, the more I live... the more I’m convinced of this: ➡️ “Kindness” is just a fancy word for knowing we’re all in this together. In short, if you’re ever feeling “down,” always remember the best way to help yourself is to help someone else. After all, 💡 When you help someone, you help make them feel good — which helps make you feel even better. Cheers to making all your dreams come true! 🥂 #spreadlove #lifelessons #kindness #motivation

In Maryland and surrounding areas, please consider being a foster for a homeless dog! Your kindness is needed more now than ever! Most rescues will cover expenses, so all you would need is some room in your home and some love for the pup! And if you decide that the dog would be a good fit for you for forever, you get first dibs on adopting! We have a great network of rescues and shelters in the MD area we work with, so please email us to inquire. No obligation, but you will be surprised how YOU can be a hero to a dog and save their life! Please email foster@charlietotherescue.org and ask us! **We are a group of volunteers in Maryland & surrounding states, who can help answer your questions about fostering and direct you in the right direction to a rescue that can work with you to save precious lives.

Happy Giving Tuesday! Today is a great day to give back to the community and support missions that resonate with you. If you'd like a little direction on where to share your support, here are a few organizations I recommend: 1. Bigger Than The Trail - this organization advocates for mental health through trail running. Good news: you don't have to be a runner to support mental health. By supporting BTTT, you help others gain access to free counseling. https://www.bttt.run/ 2. Pilots N Paws - this organization assists in rescuing, sheltering, and adopting animals. By supporting Pilots N Paws, you give animals another chance to find their people and furever homes. https://lnkd.in/g-K_Prum 3. Colorado Search and Rescue - this organization assists in rescuing and recovering those in need while recreating in Colorado's backcountry areas. By supporting CO SAR, you help get volunteers to the people in need, allow volunteers to increase their knowledge and skills for SAR missions, and ensure the volunteers have the proper gear and equipment necessary to complete missions. https://coloradosar.org/

Hey PDX HSP Community, During this month of the colonial holiday of Thanksgiving, we are thinking about how the work of PDX HSP interrelates with calls for repair from the Indigenous Land Back movement. So for our next community event we are grateful to be hosting Jillene Joseph, enrolled member of the Gros Ventre or Aaniiih people, and board member of the Future Generations Collaborative (FGC). We are very excited that Jillene will be hosting us at and sharing about Barbie’s Village, a land back transfer of the former Laurelhurst Presbyterian Church building and the property it sits on. FGC uses the building as a community hub and is developing a tiny home village on the property for houseless Native parents with small children. Where: Barbie’s Village, 935 NE 33rd Ave When: Tuesday, Nov. 26, 7:00–8:30 pm If you plan to attend, please click the link in our bio to RSVP . Light snacks and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided. Feel free to bring outside food. This will be a masks optional event. We ask that you stay home if you are experiencing any abnormal symptoms. For more info about PDX HSP, check out our website in the link in our bio. #pdxhousingsolidarityproject #pdx #portland #oregon #black #indigenous #community #allies #reparations #homebuying #firsttimehomebuyer #housing #pdxhsp #events #resources #blackcommunity #indigenouscommunity #nativeamerican #africanamerican #families
