Two weeks ago, National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Canada and Dometic Marine were honoured to host Conservative Party of Canada Leader Pierre Poilievre at Dometic's Richmond, BC facility. Mr. Poilievre toured Dometic’s advanced production lines, gaining insights into the skilled manufacturing jobs that strengthen Canada’s marine sector. Over 100 employees gathered to meet with the leader and hear his thoughts on affordability and Canadian manufacturing. Our discussion underscored the urgent need to #AxeTheLuxuryTax on recreational boats—a policy that, though intended to target luxury, has disproportionately impacted hardworking small businesses, middle-class workers, and marine industry jobs in rural Canada. Instead of generating revenue as intended, the tax has suppressed demand and hindered domestic growth, driving jobs and sales to the U.S. and stalling economic development in our communities. Thank you, Mr. Poilievre, for taking the time to discuss these pressing issues. At NMMA Canada, we remain committed to proactive advocacy, working with all parties to address key challenges facing our industry. #CanadianEconomy #NMMAAdvocacy #ManufacturingJobs #axethetax
Two thumbs up NMMA Canada and Dometic
Awesome news! Was there any dialogue you can share about the LT being axed as well? I understands Pierre's position on axing the carbon tax among others but have wondered if the LT will be among the first to get axed as well? I'm so glad he was able to come gain some insight into the Marine industry, thank you!
Thank you MF! Keep rocking it!
Congrats Marie-France!
