A few pieces of advice for fresh Graduate Engineers 🔴 Never opt for unpaid internships. 🔴 Never accept a salary or stipend lower than the minimum wage (currently 44,000 PKR in Pakistan). ⚪ Advocate for fair compensation and speak out against companies offering inadequate salaries or stipends, especially when there are numerous firms providing more than 40,000 PKR stipends. ⚪ Avoid accepting a job if the job description doesn't match the actual responsibilities. For instance, if hired as a junior planning engineer but tasked with duties of a draftsman, it's advisable to leave that firm promptly. 🔴 Refrain from resigning from your current position unless you have a confirmed opportunity in hand. ⚪ Avoid paying for courses, as many top-ranked institutes offer free courses nowadays. Coursera, in my opinion, is one of the best platforms for this. ⚠️ I have extensive data available. If you're interested in a detailed article featuring firm names offering paid 40,000 PKR+ stipends, job opportunities, free international courses with certificates, as well as information on international seminars and webinars, please comment "BLOG," and I will upload it soon. Please like and repost for better reach. Regards

Becoming a proficient construction is not reliant on earning a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field. Though advanced qualifications, such as a Master's in Construction Management or PMP certification, can provide a competitive edge. Practical experience, gained through internships or apprenticeships, offers valuable insights into industry practices. Strong knowledge of construction techniques, legal regulations, and project management software is crucial. This educational and experiential foundation equips individuals to confidently lead construction projects while ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and budgetary parameters. The career path of a construction manager generally begins with entry-level positions like assistant project coordinator or field supervisor. With experience, they advance to roles with greater responsibility, such as project manager or senior site supervisor. Aiming for specialised roles like green building manager or construction consultant can provide unique growth opportunities. Those with extensive experience might progress to executive positions, such as director of construction operations. Continuous learning, skill enhancement, and adaptability are vital for a successful trajectory in this dynamic and evolving field.

Excited to announce the completion of my internship at Water Engineering & Management Services (WEMS) in the Project Management department! During my one-month internship at WEMS, I had the opportunity to gain practical experience in several key areas related to water treatment plants (WTP)/ waste water treatment plants(WWTP). My role primarily focused on project management, where I learned how to oversee and coordinate various aspects of WTP projects, ensuring they stayed on track and met their objectives. One of my core responsibilities was reviewing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) of water treatment plants. This task involved carefully examining the diagrams to ensure they accurately reflected the design and operational parameters of the WTP. This review process was crucial in identifying any potential issues that could impact the efficiency or safety of the plant. Additionally, I was involved in calculating pipe sizes for the WTP, a critical aspect of ensuring that the water treatment processes operated effectively. This task required a solid understanding of fluid dynamics and the specific requirements of the plant's operations. I also participated in site visit, where I had the chance to engage directly with employees and address technical issues as they arose. This hands-on experience allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations, enhancing my problem-solving skills and my ability to communicate effectively with team members. Overall, this internship provided me with valuable insights into the practical challenges of managing and optimizing water treatment plants, and it significantly enhanced my technical and managerial abilities.

A civil engineer thought an unpaid internship was the only way to overcome his lack of local experience. I disagreed when I took a closer look at his LinkedIn profile and saw the real issue. Previously, he has received hundreds of rejection emails that say, “We’ve decided to go with a candidate with more local experience” I get it. It’s easy for your mind to register that feedback deeply when you hear it again and again. But here's what I found on the LinkedIn profile: -> 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲: Written too broadly, targeting every possible role—Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineer. No focus. -> 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: A short 4-line paragraph with no mention of achievements or the value he could bring to potential employers. -> 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: Bullet points? None. It lacked details that could make a recruiter take notice. -> 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀: Only 28 skills were listed, and even those weren’t optimised to reflect what hiring managers are searching for. I asked him to rate his LinkedIn profile on a scale of 1-10. He said 8. I told him directly: If it was truly an 8, you wouldn’t be on a call with me right now. Here's the reality: If you don’t work on the areas that are limiting your growth right now, an unpaid internship can only do so much. It’s a temporary escape, but would it address the real issues? Sometimes, the biggest barrier to landing your next job is not the externals, It’s YOU! #jobsearch #Linkedinoptimization #linkedintips #careeradvice #careercoach P.S. Have you ever taken on an unpaid opportunity? Did it help or set you back?
