Once celebrated as the "City of Gardens," Lahore now faces severe air pollution that threatens public health and the environment. The factors contributing to this crisis—vehicular emissions, industrial pollution, Horizontal/vertical buildings, and agricultural burning etc. We must #work_together to find sustainable solutions and restore the beauty and livability of our cities. Lahore's geographical location essentially makes it an air envelope - collecting air from all of East Punjab. And because East Punjab naturally has westward wind direction, they don't really feel compelled to stop creating air pollution. They don't really perceive it an issue. It's really like how Karachi, the worst managed mega city of the world with non-existent public transport and highest transport emissions per capita doesn't really get 'smog' purely because of its geographical location. So then coming back, what really is the solution to kill smog in Lahore and improve its air quality? Build the 2 remaining mass transits in Lahore on Purple and Blue lines these two mass transits would take another 750,000 people (daily) away from their emission producing private cars and bikes onto emission-free mass transits. And in that Lahore will reduce its own transport induced emissions. Next up, add green belts and parks etc etc. Remember trees don't kill emissions, trees offset them but again it would still help. What else? Ban new industrial units to be built inside the city of Lahore and those existing to be either moved out or strictly made sure that they reduce their emission outtake. What else? Introduce LEZs (low emission zones) inside Lahore, similar to those in several cities of Europe. LEZs essentially is a concept of banning high emission producing vehicles from traveling on key corridors of city during peak hours etc. What else? Add as many woodlands as possible inside and around Lahore. What else? Mass distribution of super seeders to incentives farmers to stop the practice of field burnings (this is already in progress). So now imagine all of this is done and implemented within the next 3 years in Lahore. We can't change Lahore's geographical location and it's wind envelope And till the time eastern wind from south keep sending smoke of burning fields, that smoke will keep killing people in Lahore. Obviously with all these measures it won't be as bad as it is today but it would still be too bad. Just see for yourself, the moment wind changes direction AQI drops to 100-200. Next hour wind starts blowing from east, AQI shoots to 700-1000 instantly. While we can reduce our local emissions, we can't stop wind. Unless a climate pact is established across the region of Punjab, Lahore will always be the worst effected city with smog - it can become South Asia's best served public transport city, it won't matter, at all. #Lahore #smog #pollution

A request has just been submitted to #Iraq government to remove all Korek Telecom antennas MP stations from #Diyala. Residents have consistently held demonstrations complaining of drastic, documented health effects, including higher cancer cases. Environmental Health Trust has discovered by research a correlation between radio frequencies and negative health effects. In the most recent, the ICC Arbitration awarded #Baghdad over a billion dollars. Prime Minister's Office, Republic of Iraq reduced it to $800 million. It has not been paid still. This eco system will put his whole force to create unrest in reaction to proove their point, but this is not going to last for long . next phase is very near where all will start running and blaming each other .
