I had my Instagram account hacked by a hacker who is trying to scam my followers financially, and support from Meta is difficult. The application's resolution alternatives do not work, since the attacker changed the email and telephone number that were originally linked to the account. Ultimately, for a clear security failure by the company, the minimum should be active support in these cases, given the various cases won in legal proceedings filed by users who had their accounts hacked in this way.

History has shown us that poverty in the Global South, particularly in resource-rich regions like the Congo, is not a result of 'lack of effort' or 'underdevelopment,' but rather the direct outcome of centuries of intervention and exploitation by the Global North. From colonial resource extraction to modern multinational profiteering, the same systems continue to thrive under the guise of 'humanitarian aid' or 'development assistance.' Framing Global North interventions as heroic while ignoring their exploitative underpinnings perpetuates harmful narratives. It allows powerful nations and corporations to maintain access to critical resources—minerals, land, and labor—under the excuse of 'helping.' This dynamic not only sustains dependency but also actively prevents local empowerment, innovation, and equitable economic growth. True change demands that we stop the cycle of extraction disguised as aid. It means holding systems of exploitation accountable, paying reparations for colonial harms, and centering the voices of communities whose resources have been stolen for generations. Let’s not romanticize intervention—let’s dismantle the structures that make it 'necessary' in the first place.
