World hepatitis day aims to raise global awareness about hepatitis, a group of infectious diseases known as hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E, and to encourage prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. There is the need for an increase in global understanding of the different types of hepatitis and the significant health challenges they pose. By encouraging testing, we highlight the importance of knowing one’s status. We also encourage vaccination and preventive measures to reduce risk of infection. Not forgetting, advocating for better access to treatment for all those infected, especially those in the rural regions. #Selfcare #Knowyourstatus #Healthyliving

On the Eve of World Meningitis Day let's create awareness about this dangerous and life threatening disease. #Meningitis is an inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord due to bacterial or viral infection. The bacteria can survive in aerobic environment for longer duration along with dried stool/ shit... and enter healthy body through ingestion. 1.2 million people are suffering with bacterial meningitis. Typical symptoms include high grade fever, headache, rash, stiff neck, dislike of bright lights, unresponsiveness and seizures. We have vaccines against it and now it is included in Indradhanush 2. It's essential to prevent spread by creating awareness about infection and ensuring vaccines available for all the infection! 🩺 Health, sdg#3 , #connectingaspiration

Over 846 million adults worldwide—more than one in five aged 15-49—have a genital #herpes infection, with 42 million new infections each year. While most experience mild or no symptoms, for some people genital #herpes leads to painful genital sores and blisters that can recur throughout life. This can cause significant discomfort and require multiple healthcare visits. WHO works to improve access to treatments and drive research to reduce the burden of genital #herpes globally. New treatments and vaccines are needed to reduce the impacts of the herpes virus and control its spread. Know more: https://bit.ly/4gasPVo

At AdventHealth, we're in the middle of our influenza vaccine campaign. Today was good for me to get the flu shot, which I have received annually since the 1990s. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, infectious disease & public health societies recommend that virtually everyone should receive a yearly vaccine. It is the most effective way to reduce your risk of getting sick from the flu, and for healthcare providers, becomes more impactful in order to protect our vulnerable populations who are at risk of developing severe illness or complications. Take a few minutes today to roll up your sleeve and take action to benefit ourselves, our families, and our patients. #fluvaccine #influenzavaccine

Stop Sepsis, Save Lives! World Sepsis Day is on September 13, 2024. Sepsis is the leading cause of preventable death worldwide. It can be prevented by Vaccination, Sanitation, Awareness, Clean water, Hand hygiene, Preventing -acquired infections (HAIs), and Safe childbirth. Sepsis arises when the body’s response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs. It may lead to shock, multi-organ failure, and death – especially if not recognized early and treated promptly. Sepsis is the final common pathway to death from most infectious diseases worldwide, including viral infections such as SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19.
