🚨 Energy Strategy Matters: Spot Purchases or Long-Term LNG Contracts? 🚨 Long-term energy security is called into question by the interim government's recent practice of buying LNG on the spot market. This strategy can result in supply instability when prices peak or cargo is constrained, given that our own gas reserves are depleting and industry expansion depends on steady energy supplies. Is a long-term agreement a preferable way to ensure economic stability and energy resilience? In order to safeguard our country's energy future, it is imperative that we look beyond short-term benefits. We also need a better overview of the government's renewable energy plan, since it promotes itself as an ambassador for environmental issues.

www.polymerupdate.com *Oil majors curtail the ‘fantasy’ of phasing out fossil fuels for the energy transition* Terming the current format of the energy transition ‘unrealistic’, global oil majors have urged world leaders to reframe the overall strategy and include the oil and gas industry in the entire movement of carbon emission reduction. The current format of energy transition accuses fossil fuels as the biggest contributor to the global carbon emission, thus recusing the oil and gas sector from the renewable energy movement. Oil and natural gas explorers called the current efforts ‘failing to meet climate ambition’, due to the exorbitant cost required to generate alternative energy to achieve the carbon emission reduction (CER) target. Georgina Energy PLC (LSE:GEX) has highlighted its progress as it plans to re-enter and develop the Hussar-1 well, in Western Australia, before the end of 2024. Logistics planning is underway, along with work regarding road and site access (including the regrading of a nearby airstrip. A scoping study has now been commissioned for a proposed gas separation and purification plant. It will include a sensitivity analysis for the capital and operating costs. It is expected that such a plant would be owned and operated by the company’s offtake partner, in line with Georgina's strategy to sell gas at the wellhead. Currently, the company is finalising an extension to its current offtake agreement (which is presently a memorandum of understanding), and its expected that once sealed it will include a payment to reimburse Georgina's costs. Grids in Europe are on average 40 years old. Investments needs are calculated to be in range of 160 billion of Euro. This new network aims to provide interconnected between countries electricity and offshore energy producing. Croatia has invested through EU in expansion of its energy security in gas terminal and pipeline. This year Grids require better policy of projects outline but more so production of energy becomes even more vital. Croatian agency for hydrocarbons is entrusted with steering of potential of existing energy and giving way to expanding of portfolio. Energy companies, energy equipment companies play important part in this chain delivery. Being part of European list of energy projects of common interests will deeper our energy security, access and transformation.

Early last year (IC, 29 April 2011), we highlighted that "the prospect of future energy deficits" was spurring global energy heavyweights like Royal Dutch Shell and Exxon Mobil "to invest heavily in technologies that could profoundly alter the global energy map". What we didn't fully appreciate at the time was how rapidly the oil and gas industry was being transformed, particularly in the US through the development of the shale oil industry. But the latest edition of the World Energy Outlook from the International Energy Agency (IEA) makes it plain that the global energy landscape is being altered in ways that would have seemed inconceivable even at the turn of the millennium. According to the IEA, the US is set to become the top oil-producing country by the end of the decade, while almost half of all new oil production through to 2035 would be attributable to Iraq (including Kurdistan). Surprisingly, the report also states that renewable technologies will be the world's second-largest source of power generation by 2015 and could close the gap on coal as the primary source by as early as 2035. The renewable energy sector attracts criticism from some quarters because of the level of government subsidies it attracts, but the IEA report points out that last year there was a 30 per cent increase in global fossil fuel subsidies to a staggering $523bn (£327bn). https://lnkd.in/dPMWqtck
