We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Makoto Hashimoto to our team, further strengthening our hybrid coronary revascularization program. As many of you know, the PREVENT IV trial (Prevention of Autogenous Vein Graft Failure in Coronary Artery Bypass Procedures) reported a 45% saphenous vein graft (SVG) failure rate at 12 to 18 months. Although the hybrid trial could not be completed due to enrollment challenges, most experts agree that the key benefit of CABG lies in the left internal mammary artery (LIMA). At Baptist Health, we’re fortunate to have a surgical team capable of robotic or minimally invasive LIMA to the LAD (via left thoracotomy) while managing additional lesions through PCI. This approach combines faster recovery with the well-known advantages of CABG—giving our patients the best of both worlds. Tom C. Nguyen Dr. Joseph T.
