😊 Having space to slow down, stand back and think more clearly. 😊 Having time to connect, collaborate and support each other. 😊 Increasing self-awareness and questioning how we're going about what we need to achieve. 😊 Being able to apply practical techniques immediately. 😊 Learning actionable tips from peers. These are not the usual comments we hear from leaders at work. But they are some of the feedback from the 26 leaders at HR Wallingford who started Labs today. That's day 1. And that's before they have started to test out their ideas about how to improve practice through their experiments. Not a bad day at the office! Actually, it was only 2.5 hours. Imagine what they're going to achieve over 8 months with Deep Dives along the journey?! And it couldn't be more important. Think about it... When have you ever stopped to consciously think about what's important to you about how you show up? And what gets in the way? Then the impact that has on you and your performance? Some BIG questions that are very worthwhile exploring with your colleagues, not only for yourself but to become more aligned as a team. Without empathy, you can't lead others. Without empathy, you can't create content that resonates with others. Thankfully, empathy is a _skill_ that you can develop. Here's how 👇 I do weekly challenges for leaders that help them to boost their presence. 1 week = 1 challenge. 1 challenge = 5 tasks you can DIY at your own pace. Practice active listening by measuring your speech during meetings 2. Give up your driving seat by letting others lead meetings 3. Schedule 1:1 calls with all your team members and ask about work/life 4. Have an open-door policy, even remotely, with a recurring open meeting 5. Draw an empathy map of your team to understand connections and relations Each task can be done within a short period. All can be done by yourself. When it comes to presence, everyone points you to create content immediately. I get it. Services need to be sold. But you can't create content without empathy. It won't resonate with anyone.
