We have a crew at the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Convention. It's always a sign that high school sports are right around the corner. Thank you to every coach across the country for giving back to their communities and athletes.

Interesting insight in to Turnberry Resort & Golf Club.
What would you ask Ricky Hall, Director of Golf at Trump Turnberry, if you had the opportunity to sit down and talk golf with him? ⛳ And, what would you have asked if you'd still been in primary school? Here's what pupils of Maidens Primary wanted to talk about in (what is possibly) our favourite Q&A of the season! https://lnkd.in/eYBbGXPz

An absolute pleasure. The conversion was rich in solutions rather than a perspective of reactions. Often we look to mitigate the impact of society on our young people. Rather than looking to remove any barriers that they may face. It was great to get back to the core, with a group of individuals who which to use sport, not only as a mechanism for a professional avenue, but more to draw away the skills that sport teaches us. Having played full time football and part time in non-league. Even being lucky enough to move onto the Conference. All whilst running a business. Sport has taught me the following: - hard work is not negotiable, - just because you like something it doesn’t make the grind any easier, - resilience is a must in any walk of life, - team work is essential to build morale and culture, - you must be willing to pick others up around you where they need a helping hand. These are the same principles that I have applied to life and here at Bouncing Statistics whilst I wish for young people to learn these vital skills and values also.
Brilliant meeting Rackeem Reid yesterday discussing all things young people, the challenges they face and the power that sport has to level the playing field, and to hear about their brilliant work Bouncing Statistics. Really thought-provoking conversation about being evidence-based in our approach and authentic in our direction as we look to put plans in place for our upcoming football and education programme Birmingham United for the 24/25 season. Looking forward to working together to positively impact the lives of young people in our city.

👀 Despite upper management's recent termination decision, Dan Monson still delivers! 💪 While we don't know what would have happened if he wasn't there; we do know what happened because he was!!! My take aways: 1. Sometimes we make rash decisions because of our emotions instead of our intellect. 2. Sometimes upper management gets it wrong. This will be an interesting to watch... #oops #danmonson #Resilience #managementmatters #managementmistakes #KeepPushingForward 🏀🚀
Six days ago, Long Beach State announced it was firing head coach Dan Monson after 17 years. However, the school decided to allow him to coach out the Big West Tournament. So, he just led LBSU to the Big West title—and the school’s first NCAA Tournament berth in over a decade.

Think about what top level sport is. What’s the main difference? Speed? Pressure? Skill application? How does that manifest? Less time on the ball. Less time to make decisions. Faster players to track. Skills we acquire with experience, but without the experience how do we acquire them? You train them. With intent and purpose. We have to change the rhetoric around how we develop ALL athletes.
"Are we missing something?" This one observation about goalkeepers in the Premier League academies concerns me. Why? The last Premier League academy graduate goalkeeper to play over 100 games for their parent club was Wojciech Szczęsny at Arsenal (from 2009-2017). Understandably, the position of goalkeeper is fiercely competitive. BUT...how many can actually break through? Are they facing enough demands during games? It’s not just about being a good with your feet… it’s about exposing them to the right challenges to develop fully. Now, many Premier League academy goalkeepers: → Make fewer saves due to dominant team possession → Don’t face the same aerial challenges as before → Don’t play as many longer passes as before → Develop their feet more than their hands AND... Premier League clubs often sign experienced goalkeepers instead of trusting academy graduates, creating a bottleneck for young talents to prove themselves. Is this a pathway problem? Should we rethink how these academy goalkeepers are challenged? P.S. "How can we bridge the gap between academy success and first-team trust?" (Repost ♻) --- Want more from your coaching in 2025?
