We've all heard the password best practices. "Don't use your dog's name, the name of your street, etc." Despite this, reports shows that 75% of people globally don’t adhere to widely-accepted password best practices with 64% either using weak passwords or repeat variations of passwords to protect their online accounts. If you haven't changed your passwords in a while, have one password for everything, or have a password like fido123, here's your reminder that it's time to update. Here are 4 characteristics of a strong password: 1️⃣ At least 12 characters long 2️⃣ Uses a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols 3️⃣ Different from other passwords you've created 4️⃣ Doesn't include easy-to-find personal information (your birthday, address, phone #, etc.)

Multi-factor authentication can help if done properly. Password vaults can help keep track of all your credentials, but need to be configured and used safely. Stay safe and Stay Secure!

The #cybersecurity researchers at Cybernews have reported the largest collection of stolen passwords ever leaked to a notorious crime marketplace. Dubbed RockYou2024 by its original poster "ObamaCare," the file contains nearly 10 billion unique plaintext passwords, allegedly compiled from various #databreaches and hacks over the years. Released on July 4th, this leak has been described as the most extensive compilation of stolen credentials ever witnessed on the forum. The researchers emphasized that these real-world #passwords pose a significant risk as they could be used in credential stuffing attacks, a common method employed by criminals, ransomware affiliates, and state-sponsored hackers to breach services and systems. How are you prepared if your organization hasn't updated their passwords for security from a breach like this?

Reduce the chances of your online accounts being hacked by half when you set up two-factor authentication (2FA). It works by piecing together two unrelated pieces of information to confirm your identity. There are various types of authentication that can be categorised into three groups: 1. 💡 What you know (password or answer to a security question) 2. 📱 What you have (a piece of hardware like a phone) 3. ☝️ What you are (biometrics such as facial recognition or a fingerprint) 2FA requires two of these things — the most common combination is a password followed by a one-time passcode (OTP) sent via SMS. And the good news is that it's easy to set up 👍

Tomorrow is World New Password Day. 🔑 We've all done it... written out passwords in books, on sticky notes or in a document on our computer. The thing is there are so many better options when it comes to looking after your passwords. As well as having a password manager like 1Password or LastPass which you can use across devices and share passwords (without others seeing the password). What about taking it to the next level in both your business and personal logins. Could today be the day when you start using 2FA (two factor authentication) on ALL your super important and sensitive logins. I have had numerous attempts to hack my personal Facebook. How do I know? Because I have 2FA! Let this day (or tomorrow which is also Star Wars Day) be the day you implement 2FA on all your important accounts and logins. 💻📱 #businesssecurity #2FA #password #passwordmanager #informationsecurity #business_exit_partners
