Road trips with two cats is like being a fractional CFO… There aren’t many things I do that are “normal” To see a solar eclipse, my wife and I took a 1,000-mile road trip… … with two cats. Talk about making a grand entrance when checking into a hotel. My wife loves traveling with the cats, and so do their spectators. My wife convinced me to buy a bigger vehicle for our "growing family..." After our second cat showed up on our doorstep at midnight. Hotels almost always up-charge for traveling with pets, unless a cat lover happens to be checking us in and lets that fee slide with a wink and several selfies with the little furballs. As a group, we tend to travel faster Because we can’t make long pit stops to see oddball attractions. Destinations are, therefore, reached much more efficiently because the "family unit" requires it. Since everyone in my crazy crew is happy during these chosen expeditions, it’s worth the incremental cost. All of this is like being a fractional CFO: - Hiring a high-quality fractional CFO can be pricey at first. - That person should come with a great posse to support them. - The posse is a focused and seamless team. - The entire team is better traveling together than riding solo. Does your fractional CFO come with a posse? Should he/she? Probably yes. If you’d like to meet the crew we work with, please reach out to Sharai Lavoie or me. Lavoie CPA PLLC #striveforexcellence #AccountingAsAService #cashflow Here are my wife’s cats Ringo and Ivy hanging out in their mobile car seats. Traveling to new places is no problem for these two. Like your fractional CFO, you want someone who is supported by a team to help carry out accounting tasks and ensure your financial information is monitored regularly.

Hey LinkedIn fam! 😄 Just stumbled upon a gem of an article about working capital at happay.com, and let me tell you, it's like realizing you've got just the right amount of cash in your pocket for that spontaneous ice cream run! 🍦💸 🔹 Did you know that working capital is essentially like having your rainy-day fund ready to cover those unexpected expenses, like a surprise visit from your in-laws? 😅 It's the cash and other assets that keep the money train chugging along for a business to handle those short-term financial curveballs. 🔹 Imagine if your favorite cafe suddenly ran out of coffee beans because they didn't manage their inventory properly! ☕️ It's like how businesses need to balance their inventory levels to ensure they have enough to keep the caffeine flowing without ending up with a stockpile of stale beans. 🔹 We all know the struggle of waiting to get paid after a gig, right? 💸 Managing accounts receivable is key to keeping the cash flow steady and avoiding those nail-biting moments of checking the mail for that elusive check. 🔹 Also, let's talk about the delicate dance of accounts payable management – because no one wants to be that friend who conveniently forgets their wallet every time the bill arrives! 😂 So, here's a friendly challenge: think about your last-minute saving grace moment and give this article a read. I'd love to hear your thoughts and feelings on how working capital plays a part in your daily financial adventures! 🚀💼 https://lnkd.in/gwzV-DxY

One of “the teenagers” headed off on a Duke of Edinburgh hike at the weekend! As a teenager I was a scout and armed with a backpack filled with Kendal mint cake I could achieve so much!! It reminded me of the joy of planning a route, keeping on track, checking the map & the compass along the way, maybe all those scout hikes is where that joy comes from for me?! That planning and checking on the journey is part of how we work with clients at Iceberg Accounting. Within our Clarity & Focus and Drive & Optimise packages our first step with a client is to work out where the heck are we? After all we can’t work out where to go if we don’t know our starting point. Together, we consider: - What’s the current position - looking at operations / capacity as well as the financials; - Why we are in business – as knowing our purpose shapes are plans; - Where we are trying to go .......... We love doing this with clients as getting clarity on the NOW is step one to an EPIC FUTURE. When was the last time you checked where you’re at on your plans and whether you’re still on course?

Congratulations to our friend Ellen Sondee, CFO of PetScreening - a 2024 CFO of the year honoree from the Charlotte Business Journal! 👏 I love her response to: What is your best advice for aspiring CFOs? (click the link to see for yourself) Ellen Sondee is CFO of PetScreening Inc. Why finance as a career? I have always enjoyed problem solving and working with numbers. I felt that a career in finance would offer a wide range of opportunities and would be a challenging field involving analyzing complex data, making informed decisions and constantly adapting to market conditions. Describe a unique challenge of the past year and how you dealt: Since starting at PetScreening in 2022, our headcount has grown almost 50% and we are projected to end the year with almost 100% growth over 2022. Additionally, we will be expanding into new markets in the coming year. These two challenges require me to closely manage cash flow and projections to ensure we are financially positioned to continue to grow at an accelerated pace. What is one key metric or number that represents an accomplishment in your work in the past year? Four — had a clean first-year audit of the company with no material adjustments; implemented a new human resources information system and a new budgeting and forecasting system; in process of closing on a new line of credit for the company at favorable interest rates. What is your economic outlook for the next 12 months? Is your company making any financial adjustments based on that? The economy has recently had strong growth. I expect that the growth will slow down in the coming months but overall will still grow over the prior 12 months. PetScreening is well positioned and will continue to deploy growth capital as intended, with no change in strategy. What is your best advice for aspiring CFOs? Surround yourself with a good network and mentors to guide you. Develop a strong financial foundation, diversify your experience across all areas of finance, become a leader, understand the business you work in, keep informed of accounting and technological change, and strive to continuously learn. Something not everyone knows about you: I was a cheerleader for UCLA. Go Bruins! https://lnkd.in/eDi466EJ
