Secretary of State approves M&S Marble Arch proposal. I welcome this well overdue decision, to replace this obsolete building with something far better. Why did it take so long to get here?! What a waste of time, money and energy. Yes, retrofit should always be the first option, but in some instances - this being one - it is simply not viable, and that's not likely to ever change. In which case, redundant buildings should be built back better, to the absolute highest standards and future-proofed for adaptability. A classic, 1820s Regency-style London townhouse?  Actually, this is more a Bridgerton-style tribute than an original Jane Austen. The original building was destroyed in the war and rebuilt with a modern frame construction. While the façade appears original, nothing beyond the front entrance door pre-dates 1950!   It could be good news for the leaseholders, though, if they wish to make alterations to their flats. That's because, unlike in the original building, the majority of internal walls in a framed construction like this will be non-load bearing.  Once confirmed by a structural engineer’s report, those walls can be demolished without structural support - with significant cost savings! #Heritage #LicenceToAlter #LoadBearingWalls

So June is a thing of the past and we are now over half way through 2024! I love the beginning of a month for 2 reasons: 1. It is an opportunity for a fresh start. You've got 31 new days ahead with plans to look forward to and a few inevitable surprises along the way too 2. You have a chance to reflect and learn. I spend the first day of each month analysing the month before and reporting against our KPIs to Dave So often the 'end' of a month can feel like the a 'final push'. It is a natural break in time and so we can pin things to this. It is easier to slip into the 'if and when' mindset as you're desperate to escape some of the more trialling parts of the previous month. However, when you stop and look back, before you move on and close the door, you often realise that you have achieved much more than you realised.
