In the blink of an eye we approach 10 years at Lemonade Ltd. What I’ve learned over those 10 years is incalculable. What I can say for sure is that working with actors is great but having the chance to tell real stories and learn from the people in those stories is probably what we are most grateful for. Hopefully you find ways to tell real stories somewhere in your content/marketing mix. After all, brands are real. #marketing #branding #stories #agency

Tuesday (11/5) is Election Day - If you are a Massachusetts voter, Vote NO on Question 5! HURTS SERVERS — 91% of servers and bartenders reject the ideas of Q5 because it takes tips away from them! HURTS RESTAURANTS — 10% of the D.C. restaurant industry was lost due to closures and layoffs when similar policies were implemented, costing over 2,700 jobs! HURTS CONSUMERS — Increased costs have and will result in higher menu prices, up to 20% service charges, and less overall service. Protect Servers. Protect Restaurants. Protect Consumers. VOTE NO on 5!

Security tip #4: If your child is missing “Be Loud” and RUN TO NEAREST exit. Scream for help “My child is missing” Do not stand there and call for help, your child will be gone. Understand that if you can’t find your child and he/she has been taken, you need to go where the person taking him or her is going directly, THE EXIT! This is your best chance at getting your child back. 1. KNOW YOUR EXITS when you enter a store, restaurant, theme park, etc. 2. Keep your children within a few steps of you, they are to be near you at all times.

First responder patch walls: an immediate indicator of my kind of place!! For a frequent traveler like myself, it’s hard sometimes to know where to eat. Yelp reviews are often gamed; Google reviews are occasionally unintelligible; Tripadvisor reviews are dated. The bat signal for good food often goes to the place with a prominent first responder patch wall near the entrance. I have yet to be disappointed by a #firstresponder friendly establishment. These places are often locally owned, although chains like Bojangles' Restaurants, Inc., Smithfield's Chicken 'N Bar-B-Q, Chick-fil-A Restaurants, and of course Firehouse Subs also deserve recognition for their unique and public support of first responders. These businesses value their relationships with their police, firefighters, and EMS personnel, often going the extra mile even when public pressure is on. The patch wall is an immediate symbol of this support. As a #lawenforcement officer, I am immediately in a better place when I walk in and see the patch wall. I can feel more confident that the clerk isn’t going to refuse to serve me (as we’ve occasionally seen or heard about). I feel better about not getting the “special sauce” aka, spit or worse in my food. These places are special. Oftentimes in talking with the waitstaff, I’ve learned that these restaurants are the cop hangouts or the spot where the EMS crew comes near the end of their 24-hour shift to grab breakfast and celebrate getting off. Many times, a cousin, brother, uncle, or dad is in the fire service and the patch wall is a direct reflection of the staff’s pride in their family member. As shown in the picture, this first responder family member really is thought of as a hero to that business. As we approach 9/11, I want to give a heartfelt thank you to all the businesses that have been good to me over the years. These are the places I continue to patronize and I’m confident that they’ll be around for years and years if we as first responders give back to them like they’ve given back to us. Thanks again “patch wall places”; if you don’t have my agency patch already, I’ll have one with me the next time I pop in. Photo: Hometown Grill & Buffet, Staunton, Virginia
