It was a great honor to participate in the RARE Revolution Magazine REV-inar alongside an incredible panel of women who have dedicated their work to advancing the care of people with rare diseases, worldwide. Wendy Erler, Yael Weiss and Professor Lara Bloom, CNE A few excerpts from my participation: On RD Caregivers: "The impact of caregiving on women is disproportionate. The economy of care is an important issue that needs to be addressed through policies that protect women." On Women in Science: "While representation is essential, I think our (women's) presence on boards, on teams, on publications, etc., should be predicated on the expertise and the insight we bring, rather than just because we're a woman or because we're a Latin American, or because we're a minority. It's important for it to be about meritocracy and ensuring that anyone's participation is based on their capacity to add value, and that they're acknowledged for their skills and contribution to the field." Another way to go? More health professionals should talk and educate the public about women’s health. We need to de-stigmatize topics like menstruation, menopause, pregnancy, birth control, etc. and other areas of women’s health.
We still have a long way to go. One place to start? Do your research, talk to other women, be your own advocate, and find physicians who are willing to listen.

STRONG WOMEN, BETTER TEXAS Last week, Allyn Media's own Jennifer Pascal, MPA and Maureen Wiegert attended Texas Women's Foundation's fifth edition of the Economic Issues for Women in Texas report along with an audience of nearly 200 community, business and civic leaders at Texas Woman's University Dallas. The report examines the pivotal role women play in driving growth and innovation in the state’s estimated $2.4 trillion economy. It illuminates the critical need to invest in removing barriers that prevent Texas women and families from achieving economic security, stability and success. Despite our booming economy--the largest in the nation--Texas ranks 47th out of 50 states for women's well-being. This stark contrast reinforces the importance of leveraging data and actionable recommendations to drive the social and economic changes necessary for Texas women and girls to thrive. Explore the report, share, engage and join us in building a stronger future. Thank you to Texas Women's Foundation President & CEO Karen Hughes White and the entire TWF team for sharing this data and helping drive meaningful change! #StrongWomenBetterTexas #TexasWomen #TXWFResearch #TXLege

A totally necessary research in the museology. Women has been a pilar in the creation and development of the museums.
I have exciting news to share. Together with Prof. Rachel Esner, from the University of Amsterdam, I am co-editing a volume on women curators. We would love to receive your proposals. Please, share, and help us to spread the voice. Thanks!

Each March, we celebrate National Women's History Month: a chance to recognize women's varied and often under-recognized accomplishments throughout history. DYK? Women comprise 70% of the healthcare workforce and 59% of medical, biomedical, and health sciences graduates, yet are the minority at leadership levels — holding only 25% of senior executive roles. The Healthcare Council's Nominating & Governance Committee continues to build gender diversity on its board. We are honored and grateful to have six women leaders as trustees: Kathleen Chavanu Gorman, Kimberly Russo, Deneen Richmond, Natalie Williamson, Carin Bouharoun, MHSA, and Galina Madjaroff Reitz, PhD. In the DMV we are making progress but can do better. Currently, 17 out of our 70 member-organizations have women who are Presidents and/or CEOs of acute and allied healthcare facilities. That is about 25 % -- a number that is representative of the national average but should be much higher. #WomenLeadership #Healthcare #WomensHistoryMonth
