✨ Trusting the Process: Reflections from Dream City ✨  A couple weeks ago, I had the incredible honor of co-hosting a workshop for Dream City, alongside Simeon Talley and Lakeshia Jackson, and working with a vibrant community of underrepresented entrepreneurs. Helping others bring their business ideas to life is always inspiring, but what stood out this time was the theme of trust—trusting yourself, trusting the process, and trusting the support around you.  Starting a business requires courage and a leap of faith, and it’s not just about having all the answers. It’s about being open to feedback, letting go of perfection, and allowing new ideas to take shape. As Brené Brown beautifully said in a talk for the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), “Trust—or braving—is a combination of boundaries, reliability, accountability, vault (confidentiality), integrity, non-judgment, and generosity.” These qualities don’t exist in isolation—they grow when practiced with other people.  In our workshop, we leaned into this collaborative spirit. Using a fun "MadLibs" approach, we explored how to refine value propositions by deeply understanding our audiences:   - Who they are   - The challenges they face   - The moments where solutions can make the most impact The result? Powerful insights and a room filled with trust, vulnerability, and creativity. Participants shared feedback like “The techniques we worked through really helped me see my business idea through a new lens” and “This workshop is the baseline for the types of workshops we want to host at Dream City.”  This event upped my love of helping people starting businesses! It also reinforced the importance of letting go a little to create space for transformation. Recently, it's been wonderful having my long-time friend from Italy visit. We hadn't seen each other since 2019, and reconnecting after so long reminded me how much life can change. It’s interesting and a bit bittersweet to see how we’ve both grown in different ways, yet our friendship remains strong despite the distance. In the journey of entrepreneurship, just like in life, growth often means leaving some things behind. Building a business has brought me new challenges and opportunities, and along the way, I've met incredible new people and formed meaningful connections. Just as my friend’s visit brought back old memories and a sense of grounding, revisiting our core values and initial motivations can be just as enriching for our professional lives. Sometimes, stepping away from the familiar is necessary for growth, but it’s also important to stay open to the unexpected returns that enrich our journeys. Reflecting on this visit, I'm reminded of the balance we strive for as entrepreneurs—pursuing new ventures and innovations while valuing and nurturing the relationships that support us. It's this blend of old and new that makes the entrepreneurial journey so fulfilling. ** Reflecting on an Incredible Roundtable for Montreal Entrepreneurs ** I had the absolute pleasure of attending a roundtable event hosted by the one and only Jake Karls from Mid-Day Squares! It was such an awesome experience. Even though I’m well into my journey with Freddies Premium Jerky there’s always something new to learn. The entrepreneurial journey never stops teaching you, and it’s events like these that remind you of that. Here’s a pic from the event—I’m the guy with the red circle around his face just one man with his own take aways. This event really drove home the fact that no matter where you are in your journey, you have to show up. Comfortable or not, get out of your comfort zone, ask questions, listen to others, and soak up their experiences. Every story is a lesson if you're open to learning. Huge shoutout to Jake Karls and Mid-Day Squares for not only hosting but for continuously strengthening the entrepreneurial community here in Montreal. Jake’s philosophy of treating people not as customers, but as friends and fans, really struck a chord with me. Case in point: thanks to Jake’s genuine excitement and support for Freddie’s, we landed a big sale from someone in the crowd. He didn’t have to hype us up or say anything, but he did—and it made a difference and we thank you for that! I also want to shout out some of the amazing people I connected with at the event: Emilie Berbrier (Joan.Collective Clothing) Allison Gold (AllGold Media), Davina Josepovici ( Peakhill Capital), Anthony Amato (Groupe Pentian), Liora Zohar Bitton ( Financial Security Advisor).
