Thoughtful reminder during the holidays. While the holidays are stereotypically a time to celebrate and be near family and friends, for many it's a vulnerable time of year. It brings about anxiety, depression, and sadness, especially when we are being told "this is the happiest time of year." The reality is many have lost loved ones, are estranged from family, lost their jobs, and countless other situations that can make the holidays difficult. Please consider that everyone may choose to spend the holidays in a way that works for them. Use this time to get to know people on a different level, be sensitive, and offer support rather than judgement or criticism. Screw the rush, the chaos, the need to post on IG, or have perfection. Focus on being thankful and in the moment. Reach out to those who may need support and allow everyone to just "be" this year. That's the best gift you can give anyone. Don't we often assume that holidays are solely about spending time with loved ones, giving back, and putting others first. And while that's partially true, I believe it's essential to remember that holidays are also about YOU. In our pursuit of making others happy, we often forget to prioritize our own needs, desires. But what if I told you that taking time for yourself during holidays is not selfish, but necessary! One sure fire way to enjoy the holidays. Work like a boss in the home stretch. I love the holidays- cool weather, good food, time with family and friends- But prior to it, I love leaving it all in the line. Always have. Nothing makes the holidays more relaxing and enjoyable than giving the home stretch of the year some ‘hell’. Leaving it all on the line. It’s easy to pull up and get lax as the calendar year shrinks. 95% of people already have, They unplug, quit working their plans etc… But there’s people to meet, decisions to be made. Some of the best business atmospheres are right now- Right when people start to look up, around, and forward for them and their businesses. There’s still work to be done. The holidays are a magical time of nostalgia, family, friends, celebrations, and hopefulness. They're also exhausting. Your personal life demands more of you during this period of the year: family members want to see you, kids are in and out of school because of breaks, friends host parties (and you'd probably love some time to yourself too.) Plus the days are getting shorter and colder and, let's be honest, we are getting less productive because of all of this. Now is the time to know that you won't be at 110% from October through December, and that's okay! Instead of pushing ourselves harder than we should go, it's a good idea to set realistic goals that won't lead to burn out.
