Our Social Action group in Quito has been hard at work, spreading joy to the young patients at the Hospital Pediátrico Baca Ortiz. With the heartfelt support of our incredible #MSProfessionals, we’ve donated toys, board games, and captivating children’s stories to brighten their days 🎲✨ Thank you to everyone who made this possible! Together, we’re proving that a little generosity can go a long way in creating moments of happiness 💖 #MSSocialImpact #MSSocialActionGroup #booktherapy #MSEcuador #MakingMagicHappen #MakingXmasHappen

Sock Rocket was born 8 years ago out of a combination of boredom with my then-freelance-based web development business, and a desire to marry subscriptions and social enterprise to see what was possible. Turns out A LOT was possible. In our first year of business (2016), Sock Rocket donated 280 pairs of socks to 1 organization (shoutout to Hull Services) and handed out 100 or so more in person on the streets of downtown Calgary. I ran the business entirely in 3-4 days of work each month as I focussed on my web development company and my golf game. A humble beginning and very much a hobby project. 7 years later this is my full time job + some, we employ several people, and we sling custom merch to some of the biggest companies in Canada. So far this year we’ve donated 128,000 pairs of socks to 70ish organizations, and it’s very likely we’ll hit 200,000 pairs donated this year alone by the time Christmas rolls through. Thank you all for your love and support. Thanks for believing in Sock Rocket, but mostly thanks for believing in social enterprise. Spoiler alert - it’s not really about socks, y’all. Socks are a vehicle to tell a bigger story - It’s about the power of social enterprise. Sock Rocket is a very simple application of a social enterprise, and I’m just here to prove that if we can do it, that means YOU CAN DO IT BETTER! There is so much potential good to be done out there, and I really believe that businesses hold a ton of power to be able to enact change. Thanks again for believing in me, humans. It means a ton. I hope we’ve made you proud so far - there’s plenty more where this came from! 500,000 down. On to the next 500,000!
🚀 We’ve done it – 500,000 pairs of socks donated! 🎉 We’re excited to share that we’ve reached an incredible milestone at Sock Rocket - we’ve donated HALF A MILLION pairs of socks to those in need! 🙌 At Sock Rocket, we're proving that you can run a small business that’s profitable AND socially responsible. Your support fuels our sock mission to reach 1 MILLION pairs donated! With every Sock Rocket purchase, you not only get original-designed, high-quality socks, but for every pair sold THREE pairs are donated. 🧦 Thank you for being part of this journey and helping us support those who need it most. Check out our website to learn more about the amazing organizations we’ve partnered with and how every pair makes a difference! https://lnkd.in/eM2kEdK8

If you can, pause a moment and open the maps app on your phone. Take note of where you are right now - your physical location. Draw an imaginery circle at a distance of 14km away, and now look at what exists between here and there in each direction. How many people in this area need help and support? How many can you help? Not everyone, but at least someone. Now take a moment to think of where you're at in life. What's just ahead? And behind? Either side of you? How many people in your world right now that need some form of help? Again, you can't help everyone - but at least someone. What little can you contribute to those in need. On 11 August City2Surf gives you the opportunity to support a wide variety of charities. It's a 14km walk/run, and it will raise thousands of dollars, each one intended to benefit people who need your help. I've set myself a modest target to raise $200 for the SAN Foundation's cardiac services. If you haven't contributed through another charity yet, why not add your support today? Every dollar helps...

Congratulations Dr. Stacie Waites on having her article titled "Teach a Man to Fish: The Use of Autonomous Aid in Eliciting Donations" published! Article Summary: Conventional wisdom says that if you give a person a fish you can feed them for a day, but if you teach them to fish you can feed them for a lifetime. However, most nonprofits tend to describe their work in a more immediate way (giving a fish) instead of how they can help aid recipients work toward autonomy (teaching them to fish). This research explores an alternative positioning strategy focused on the use of autonomous aid appeals, which promote the use of donated funds to facilitate the eventual self-sufficiency of those in need. Working with a regional non-profit we show that this singular change to the non-profit’s messaging increased donations by over 400%. This effect is further investigated in 6 studies, all suggesting the profound effect of autonomous aid messaging over immediate aid messaging in various donation contexts. If you like reading stats checkout the below from our most recent PAK'nSAVE 2 week campaign for the local Social Supermarket. - $10,975 paid forward - 2,989 acts of generosity - 439 people impacted 85% of consumers chose a pre selected amount. - 47% donated 1% of their basket size - $2,382 - 22% donated 2% of their basket size - $2,178 - 16% donated 5% of their basket size - $2,986 Although this is super impressive it was encouraging to see that - 15% of consumers chose to select their own amount which came to $3,413 (31% of the overall generosity). These stats are very consistent with other campaign results which continues to remind me of 2 things. 1. Generosity has to be made easy. 2. Giving consumers choice is super important and aligned to generosity.

Many times we wonder if it is only by going for an outreach or saving lives through being physically present we can render service to humanity? You do not have to be present before you can make impact. Shaping the future and lives of children through your donations and contributions also counts. Hence, here is an opportunity for you to contribute and change a life through sponsorship and donations. Material things, donation in cash etc. Service to humanity is not until you are present there, giving back to the community and giving to change lives is also a way. With a passion born out of hope for tonorrow, The Dayspring Initiative is once again embarking on a journey of love to Kersey Children home, where we seek to ignite the hope for a brighter tomorrow . Here is a call for sponsorship as we reach out to the "future generation" shedding light through different sessions: - Opportunity Discovery - Career talk - Education talk - Health tips _"The way we raise our children is the way we shape the future."_ ~Anonymous For sponsorship: ACCOUNT NUMBER: 6474644336 BANK NAME: Moniepoint MFB ACCOUNT NAME: The Dayspring Initiative
