I know it's August 5th and if you're like me, you're currently enthralled in the #olympics and perhaps melting in the late summer heat waves. This came in the mail the other day. Halloween in JULY. Are you kidding me?!? The peddling of holidays so far in advance by brands and retailers is SO flipping annoying. Anyone with me? However as a retail marketer you better be planning for the busy Q4 holidays NOW. It doesn't mean you have to breakout the ghosts, pumpkins & skeletons in the store. But start talking to vendors and thinking about your holiday promotions BEFORE they're upon you. Traditional retail plans their weekly & bi-weekly & monthly promotions 52-weeks (one YEAR!) in advance. That's much too lofty of a goal for an immature industry like cannabis. So break it down and start with something that's more doable: Start with 2 weeks in advance, then progress to 4 weeks, then 8, then 12. I won't lie. It takes discipline and practice. But I promise, you'll leave the chaos and stress behind and feel more in control. This planning will put you, retail ops, and your loyalty comms ahead of the game. Be the hero. Get your plans in order for the upcoming holiday shopping season. Are you ready?
