Earlier this year, I celebrated 25 years at Statefarm Insurance. If you would have told youngER me that I would be here for 25 years, I would have laughed in your face. After laughing, I would have politely told you that I was only going to be here for 5 years and then get another job. So why am I still here? Check out my top 3 reasons. 💥Opportunities- My career started in Auto Claims as a Claims Adjuster. I have since been in a variety of roles and departments. Field Marketing Analyst, Agency Marketing Specialist, Leadership Coach and currently a Talent Acquisition Specialist. Being able to grow, develop and try new things has been my favorite part. 💥Relationships- The people that I met in my early years are people I still call friend today. For example, I had lunch Friday with one of my former section managers in Claims. I've been in and attended weddings, baby showers, house warmings, funerals, birthday parties and more. I've had great mentors and people along the way that wanted to see my succeed and made sure I did. Mentors who saw me before I saw me that pushed me and held me accountable. 💥Stability- In 25 years, I have seen friends and family members with other companies get laid off suddenly. I've heard of companies closing or eliminating departments. I haven't had to deal with that or think in that way. In times of changes, whether it was a different role or dept, there has always been an opportunity available. Those are my TOP 3. I'm often asked "how do I know I'm hiring a good insurance coordinator?" Insurance is complex even if you're not participating. Training helps but they have to be open to it. I thought I'd share my red flags for this position: 🚩If they want to change your participation status ASAP then say a big "WOAH." They don't know your practice or your patients. 🚩Every insurance coordinator has challenges with certain carriers or situations. A 100% payment rate? Highly unlikely. 🚩Carriers, networks and benefits change yearly and sometimes even more so (network mergers). A three hour class a few years ago is just not enough. 🚩This is essential for determining if state laws apply to the plan in question. Don't forget a background check and calling on references! It's wild out there and I've come across employees who create chaos then hop to a new office. Be aware of the red flags in your Revenue Cycle. Don’t overthink the steps. Systemic bottlenecks affect Dental Offices viability A great example of this in our lifetime, thus far, has been the COVID Shutdown and its restrictions. With very minimal to no Scheduled Production coming in (offense) and Insurance Reimbursements temporarily shutdown (defense), the 10 Revenue Cycle steps the Dental Industry relies on made evident the value/impact each of us offer to the Dental Offices and Patient Care Hence, stick to the basics. Train to duplicate Oneself so each of our daily impact results in better Patient Experiences and Patient Retention 🦷😁🪥
