LONG BEFORE OCTOBER 7th... ...this is what it means to be Palestinian in the West Bank. You have lived in Jerusalem your entire life. As have generations of your family before you. Often in the same home for decades, even centuries. One morning you receive a knock at the door. Representatives of Israel's Housing Ministry are there to tell you that they have unilaterally deemed your property to be a site of "National Interest". You are ordered to demolish your family home. Given 24 hours to do so. If you can not or do not comply, they will return in 24 hours to DEMOLISH your home themselves. And you will be made to pay their demolition cost. You have no recourse. 🤷♂️🤷♀️ There is no authority that will help you. No one that can represent you. You have one day to comply. Naturally you can not leave and demolish your family home in 24 hours. Why would you want to? Why should you have to? It matters not. They return nonetheless.😥 Without compassion. Without compensation. Without accountability. They destroy your home. All you can do is watch. And pay the invoice they present you. This was happening every day for years, before October 7th. When they tell you they are the only democracy in the Middle East, tell them you wipe your <insert noun of choice> with them and their democracy. #FreePalestine

The Barbarity of Targeting A Mourning Funeral Procession. Sound familiar. In the midst of conflict, a funeral should be a sacred space for mourning and remembrance. Yet, in G@za and the West Bank, this sanctity has been grotesquely violated by airstrikes that have targeted funeral processions, transforming moments of grief into scenes of unimaginable horror. In 2021 May 15, a funeral for a man ki.lled by Isreli fire became a chilling reminder of the barbarity of the atrocities when an airstrike struck the gathering, claiming even more innocent lives. Similarly, in the 2014 Gaza carpet bombing, a procession in Shujaiya was hit on July 20, resulting in the deaths and injuries of mourners who had come to honor their loved one. In the 2009, a funeral in Jabaliya was also targeted, brutally underscoring the tragic reality of civilians deliberately targeted. Reports of airstrikes hitting funeral gatherings deepen the sorrow and trauma of families already shattered by loss. To target those in mourning is not just an act of violence; it is an affront to humanity itself. As the late journalist #RobertFisk once said, “To bomb a funeral is to strike at the very heart of society; it is to declare war on compassion itself.” We must not turn a blind eye to these atrocities. #Gaza #WestBank #HumanRights #Peace #Advocacy #MiddleEastConflict #Humanity
