The government declared August 11 as National Minorities Day in 2009. The date coincides with the historic speech delivered by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on August 11, 1947, where he promised to protect the rights and religious freedoms of minorities in the country. The country needs more campaigns and clear policy to help protect the Minorities. Minorities are living in fear and face uncertainty, the government needs to revisit the laws to protect them and hear their plight. #minorityrightsinpakistan #minirityrights

Today is the International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief! The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights shows that many people still cannot live their beliefs and identities openly. #FRA's latest #antisemitism survey (conducted between January and June 2023) shows that 76% of Jews hide their Jewish identity at least occasionally and 34% avoid Jewish events or sites because they do not feel safe. ➡ https://lnkd.in/gC_bXaXH Antisemitic incidents often force Jewish individuals to alter their daily activities, avoid certain places, or conceal their identity. Fear of #antisemitism can prevent individuals from participating in community events, religious practices, and cultural activities, leading to a loss of cultural diversity and community cohesion. Victimisation surveys, such as those conducted by #FRA are crucial tools for policymakers and criminal justice professionals to capture the intricacies of the impact of discrimination on victims, their relatives and friends, and the wider communities. 🔗 Find out more in our news article: https://lnkd.in/eQ4HY9wJ 🔗 Find the complete CEJI press release here: https://lnkd.in/eTxVY2zj In October #FRA will release a report that will reveal experiences of anti-Muslim hatred. ❗ To build trust with Jewish and Muslim individuals and communities, law enforcement need to establish and strengthen connections with representatives of all communities. 🔗 Go through our Facing Facts Guide to Muslim communities for police here: https://lnkd.in/evNyTwcY 🔗 Go through our Facing Facts Guide to Jewish communities for police here: https://lnkd.in/eUKfGueP

In the 2024 presidential election, distinct trends are emerging among various groups within the American Muslim community, reflecting a diverse set of political alignments based on cultural, sectarian, and generational factors. These patterns highlight the complexity and diversity within the Muslim American voting bloc, underscoring that Muslim Americans are not monolithic in their political views. Instead, they weigh a range of personal, cultural, and generational factors, each shaping their stance on national leadership. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 #malanational #muslim #american #2024election #2024presidentialelection #unitedstatesofamerica

Americans of Middle Eastern descent used to have to identify as white on government forms – new categories will change that. For the first time in 27 years, the US government has changed how it categorizes people by race and ethnicity, an effort that federal officials believe will more accurately count residents who identify as Hispanic and of Middle Eastern and North African heritage. On 3/28/24, the Office of Management and Budget announced different labels that are mandatory of federal information forms to include a people of different races that were previously excluded. A Middle Eastern and North African category will be added to the choices available for questions about race and ethnicity. People descended from places such as Lebanon, Iran, Egypt and Syria had been encouraged to identify as white, but now will have the option of identifying themselves in the new group. The revised standards go into effect immediately, though agencies have 18 months to devise plans to comply and five years to implement them.

Forms of Government There are several forms of government, each with its own characteristics and structures for exercising authority and governing a society. Some of the main forms include: 1. Democracy: A form of government in which power is vested in the people, either directly or through elected representatives. Democracy emphasizes principles such as political equality, individual rights, and government accountability to the people. 2. Monarchy: A form of government in which a single individual (the monarch) holds supreme authority and typically inherits the position based on hereditary succession. Monarchies can be absolute; where the monarch has unlimited power or constitutional; where the monarch's powers are limited by a constitution or other legal framework. 3. Oligarchy: A form of government in which power is concentrated in the hands of a small, privileged elite, such as a ruling class, wealthy individuals, or a dominant political party. Oligarchies often lack political equality and may suppress dissent or opposition. 4. Authoritarianism: A form of government in which power is concentrated in the hands of a single leader or a small group of leaders, who exercise control over political institutions, media, and civil society. Authoritarian regimes often rely on coercion, censorship, and repression to maintain power. 5. Totalitarianism: A highly centralized form of authoritarianism in which the government seeks to control all aspects of public and private life, including political, social, economic, and cultural activities. Totalitarian regimes typically employ extensive propaganda, surveillance, and ideological indoctrination to maintain control. 6. Theocracy: A form of government in which religious authorities or institutions hold political power and govern according to religious laws or principles. Theocratic governments may be led by clerics, religious leaders, or religiously affiliated political parties. 7. Republic: A form of government in which the head of state is elected by the people or their representatives, rather than inheriting the position through hereditary succession. Republics may take various forms, including presidential republics (where the president is the head of state and government) and parliamentary republics (where the president is separate from the head of government). These are just a few examples of the forms of government, and many countries may have unique variations or combinations of these systems. Each form has its own strengths, weaknesses, and variations in how governance is structured and practiced. #Governance #government #democracy #monarchy #Oligarchy #Authoritarianism #totalitarianism #Theocracy #Republican #public #chatterbox #SriLanka

**Honouring the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation** Each year, September 30th serves as a day to pause and reflect on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a day to honor the children who never returned home and the Survivors of residential schools, along with their families and communities. The truth of our shared history includes stories of pain, loss, and resilience. Publicly acknowledging these truths is a critical step toward healing and reconciliation. As we commemorate this day, let’s commit to not only listening and learning, but also taking meaningful actions to support reconciliation in our communities, workplaces, and daily lives. Reconciliation isn’t a one-time gesture but an ongoing process. It requires active participation, self-education, and building respectful relationships with Indigenous Peoples. Today and every day, let’s take time to reflect, educate ourselves, and support efforts that amplify Indigenous voices and experiences. #TruthAndReconciliation #EveryChildMatters #IndigenousRights #ListenAndLearn #DEI
