Cambridgeshire Constabulary are making the connections that will stop #modernslavery #cannabisfarms are used by serious organised crime. It takes people to grow and supply drugs. Some are controlled and exploited. They don't care who they use, including children. Natal Melero outlines tell-tale signs of a farm in operation could include "covered-up windows, the constant buzz of ventilation, visitors at unsociable hours, bright lights on throughout the day and night, and condensation on windows". These signs could lead to discovering modern slavery. Hope for Justice and Slave-Free Alliance training offers you impactful, accredited training to spot the signs https://lnkd.in/eGcacKV4

In a state where the leading cause of death in children 10-14 is suicide? (https://lnkd.in/egvP5ADD) We need to be all over supporting this invaluable work to prevent adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) including: physical or emotional neglect; physical, sexual, emotional abuse; loss of parent/caregiver; living with a caregiver who is mentally ill and/or is addicted to drugs or alcohol; having a family member who is incarcerated; witnessing domestic violence. For adverse community experiences 🧠: structural racism and oppression; neighborhood violence; food and housing insecurity; inequity (think education, medical care, opportunities) and bullying are among key factors contributing to the kind of toxic stress that leads to what I call “despairicide”: deaths of despair among teens as well as adults with mental and behavioral health challenges. Denying historical traumas of racism; classism; our history of cruelty and oppression by denying or minimizing events such as the Wilmington, NC 1898 Uprising; the displacement of Native American peoples including the Cherokee in the Trail of Tears, help tip the scales toward despair. Environmental ACEs, including environmental racism of appropriating land of BIPOC peoples for waste treatment centers, community-eviscerating roadways, foul-smelling and asthma evoking meat and chemical processing sites, all factor in as well. 🌎Climate disasters hit BIPOC and underserved communities harder as they are often in flood plains and there are fewer resources to deal with consequences of hurricanes, floods, catastrophic tornadoes, being sold out to receive substandard drinking water (think Flint, MI) and breathe air that is more heavily polluted. 🧠Community-led and culturally appropriate positive childhood and community experiences can help offset the effects of adverse childhood and community experiences. Supporting pregnant and new mothers/families with paid family leave, health care, home visitors, sick pay, and supported child care may have the greatest impact on preventing multigenerational poverty and neglect. Learning about the science of positive and adverse childhood experiences (PACEs) is vitally important for all of us, if we want to help prevent and heal childhood trauma; create positive childhood and community experiences that help prevent isolation and connection. https://lnkd.in/dkDGjBmz Being part of and supporting PCA-NC is a step in the right direction toward supporting children. We’ve all been there: a friend shares a cute photo of their dog and child, and you—the one who knows dog body language—immediately notice something others might miss. 🚨 For handlers working with therapy and facility animals, understanding subtle cues like a perked ear or a still tail is critical. It’s not just about safety; it’s about creating a stronger bond and advocating for your dog’s well-being. That’s why we created the Canine Body Language course—to give you the tools to understand your dog’s cues and ensure a positive partnership. 👏 Understanding canine body language isn’t just a skill—it’s the foundation of advocacy, safety, and effective animal-assisted interventions. 🐾

At the Innocent Lives Foundation, every success story is measured against one critical question: “If this information is published, will it make a predator harder to catch?” Our mission is to protect children, not to share details that could compromise their safety or give predators new ideas. Transparency is important, but it will never outweigh our commitment to safeguarding endangered children. Join us in supporting a mission that prioritizes safety over sensationalism. Together, we can make a real difference.#DontMessWithKids #Iam4ILF Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eMwG6jHv

Who poses a greater threat: adults or juvenile snakes? 🐍 Contrary to common belief, juveniles are the ones that warrant more attention. While venomous snakes are inherently risky, juveniles are especially dangerous compared to adults, due to their lack of control. As snakes mature, they gain the ability to regulate the amount of venom they inject, reducing the risk of excessive harm. In contrast, juveniles, lacking this control, may unintentionally administer higher doses, making them more unpredictable and potentially more hazardous. Do you know how to treat a snake bite? If not, it's time to enrol in our First Aid course! Enrol today: 🔗 livcor.com.au ✉️ courses@livcor.com.au 📲 1300 975 889 #LivCorAustralia
