When it comes to 👴🏼elderly people, they’re often set in their ways. Mornings, afternoons, and evenings tend to follow a familiar routine. Just ask 👴🏻Grandpa Joe—he says, “Ain’t nobody taking away my lard!” He still loves cooking up his delicious bacon and sausage. 🍳🥓 ✨Here are 3 reasons why they stick to their routines: ✔️Comfort and Stability: Familiar routines provide a sense of comfort and stability, which is especially important as they navigate the changes that come with aging. 🛋️ ✔️Habitual Behavior: Years of repetition make daily habits deeply ingrained and hard to change. These routines are often a result of long-standing personal preference. 🔄 ✔️Resistance to Change: Adapting to new routines can be challenging and uncertain, so many prefer to stick with what they know. “I don’t have time for self-care” Something I hear a lot 🙄 It’s true, we live in a busy, noisy world. We have information overload and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. I get you. But it doesn’t mean you have no time to look after yourself. It just means you need a new way of thinking about things. And how you approach self-care. It can take as little as 10 minutes a day. It doesn’t have to be hours, or canceling your schedule for a full day. And often, it doesn’t mean doing anything, other than stopping, and focusing on you. So, rather than thinking of self-care, as something else to do in the day. Think of it as the one time when you don’t have to do anything at all. Because ultimately, your wellbeing is your foundation, and it sets the tone for everything else in your life. It’s not something to be skipped because you’re busy. Curious, what helps you to reframe “I don’t have time for self-care”? #selfcare #recovery #slowdown #wellbeingatwork #health

🌍 World Self-Care Day: A Reminder to Prioritise Our Wellbeing 🌿 Today is World Self-Care Day! Let’s take a moment to reflect on the importance of self-care in our daily lives. According to the World Health Organization, self-care is the ability of individuals, families, and communities to promote health, prevent disease, and maintain health with or without the support of a healthcare provider. 24 June marks the start of Self-Care Month, which ends with Self-Care Day on 24 July. This symbolic day was chosen because self-care can be practised “24 hours a day, 7 days a week.” Taking 60 minutes for yourself, a “happiness hour” (Not related to the pub “Happy Hour 🤣), can significantly boost your mental and emotional wellbeing. Self-care looks different for every person and varies according to what we need, so we must mix up our strategies. Self-care is… 📖Reading a book 🧘Meditation, breathwork or yoga 🚶🏾♂️➡️Going for a walk 🏀Enjoying a hobby 😻Spending time with our pets 🏠Chilling with our family or friends ❌ Removing ourselves from difficult relationships 🗣️Therapy or coaching …ANYTHING that boosts our happy hormones. This dedicated time is essential for maintaining a positive outlook and enhancing our overall quality of life. Remember, self-care isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. By caring for ourselves, we are better equipped to care for others and contribute positively to our communities. How do you plan to spend your happiness hour? Share your thoughts and tips below! 💬👇 #WorldSelfCareDay #SelfCare #Wellbeing #HappinessHour #MentalHealth #WHO
