How to maintain your wastewater treatment system during the winter months ❄ 🌧 As temperatures drop, it’s important to keep your wastewater treatment system running smoothly. Here are some top tips to prevent winter issues: 1️⃣ Insulate Pipes – Shield exposed pipes from freezing with insulation or heat tape. 2️⃣ Pump Out Sludge – Remove excess sludge to avoid blockages during freezing temperatures. 3️⃣ Check Aeration System – Make sure the aerator is working well; ice buildup can slow it down. 4️⃣ Monitor Water Levels – Heavy rain and snow can raise levels. Drain excess if needed. 5️⃣ Secure Covers – Ensure lids and covers are tightly closed to keep out debris and snow. 6️⃣ Clear Ice & Snow – Keep system components accessible and free from snow. 7️⃣ Routine Inspections – Look out for leaks or unusual noises and address issues early. CO2 is the best first indicator of spoiled grain. An additional line of protection and early prevention against the risk of spoilage is adding CO2 sensing to your system. You have the ability to set rate of change alarms for temperature/CO2 as well as high temperature/CO2 alarms, providing early alert notifications to mitigate the risk before it becomes a problem. #techtip #techtiptuesday #grainstorage #grainbin #grainconditioning #grainmanagement #CO2monitor

Did you know that even wipes labeled as "flushable" can wreak havoc on wastewater systems? To highlight the dangers of flushing wipes, we want to share an eye-opening demonstration by Metro Water Recovery. In their latest video, Colten Clark, a water quality chemist, illustrates the stark difference between how supposed flushable wipes and regular toilet paper dissolve in water. Spoiler alert: those wipes don’t break down like toilet paper does, posing serious risks to our sewer systems. At WSG & Solutions, our advanced wastewater screens are designed to protect facilities from a variety of challenges, including the clogs and backups caused by these wipes. However, while our screens are robust and effective, they are not invincible. Non-flushable materials like wipes can still cause significant operational challenges, and the best solution is prevention. By not flushing wipes, we can all contribute to maintaining smoother, more efficient wastewater treatment operations and preventing costly, disruptive maintenance issues. Check out the Metro Water Recovery video to see just why these everyday items are a threat to our systems, and remember: When in doubt, throw it out — don't flush it! https://lnkd.in/gzVtf8Ef

Did you know: Poor water quality doesn’t just affect health—it can also wreak havoc on industrial systems! Corrosive water, high mineral content, or imbalanced pH levels can accelerate pipe corrosion and deterioration in factories, power plants, and other facilities. This can lead to costly repairs, reduced efficiency, and even safety hazards! Regular water quality testing and treatment can help protect your infrastructure and the environment. 🌍 #WaterQuality #IndustrialMaintenance #CorrosionPrevention
