Tonight, I found this great video about innovation by Guru & my trumpet hero Roy Hargrove on the Revive Music, YouTube channel. When I developed the digital strategy for the award winning DC jazz organization CapitalBop, Sebastien Helary of Next Bop and Meghan Stabile of Revive Music were my biggest inspirations. Content creation is not only vital for the cultural ecosystem, but for historical documentation. Ethnomusicology taught by Susan Weiss, was one of my absolute favorite classes at The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. George Peabody, had the vision that musicians should be well rounded and well educated about many subjects. As a polymath I loved this academic environment, because I learned about how music permeated every aspect of human life, from cognitive development, innovation and nation building. When Dr. Weiss taught about Plato and music, my world was changed forever. After studying genocide at University of Virginia, I needed to find hope and Plato's word gave me that. "Musical innovation is full of danger to the State, for when modes of music change, the fundamental laws of the State always change with them.” ― Plato, The Republic “I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning” ― Plato “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” ― Plato https://lnkd.in/e_BWMHHH #jazz #art #musiceducation

#TopOfTheMorning: In the last 4 years, i realised that we talk a lot about opportunities where candidates are looking for jobs internally, but to be honest, internal Mobility is even more important as the company gets to retain IP. We focus too much on Attracting Talent than retaining the current Talent. This video is a guide on how to prepare for an internal job. The top 10 steps one needs to make to nail that interview. The video is live today at 15:00 on my YouTube Channel: https://lnkd.in/eDCnxb6k

Came across the impactful interview that changed my perspective of life. Be it at work or in life, “use the difficulty”. If you are stuck in a difficult situation, ask yourself how can you “use the difficulty” and you may find yourself coming out ahead. ▶️ Watch this reel https://lnkd.in/g869PwYq

In today's #pullingbackthecurtain I want to talk about interviewing. You already know that your interviews are make/break opportunities. It is the biggest sample size that the decision maker(s) will learn of what working with you might be like. So when you are invited to interview, here is a handy checklist: ☑ Schedule in writing. Ask how long to budget and with whom you'll be meeting. This allows you to schedule appropriately, and conduct research on your interviewer(s) with the proper spelling of the name(s). ☑ Add to your calendar. This ensures that you won't miss it. ☑ Review job description and curate your most relevant STAR stories. ☑ Prepare your elevator speech, so you can quickly & efficiently respond to "tell me about yourself". ☑ Rehearse answers to common questions, both for content but also for length. ☑ In the interview, remember to be succinct: it's only scheduled for a certain duration. Make your points efficiently. ☑ Have your list of questions to ask ready. You are interviewing them as much as the reverse. That last part is especially important. You need to give yourself the respect that earned the interview. Thank you for coming to my #EDtalk ✅ Comment on this and other of my posts before using a reaction emoji: this trains the algorithms that you want to see more of them ✅ Follow me or the #tip4day and #EDtalk hashtags, or ✅ Consider saving this post to refer back to later And doing all of this guarantees you'll see these daily tips and other musings in your LinkedIn newsfeed. https://lnkd.in/ez3M3tV4
