This isn’t right. To the point that boils my p*** At an event recently someone asked me all about YAB - Your Affordable Board. 🙏 During conversation they implied that it wasn’t for them “that’s absolutely fine by me” 👏 I understand that everyone’s different. What empowers some, may not appeal to others. BUT :- (here comes that rant) What really ticks me off, is when they tell others that YAB is just for small businesses 🤯 I ran a multi million pound business… Lots of our members run multi million pound businesses too. But some don’t. 👍 This guy did just under £1m last year… My wage bill was bigger than that. 👉 If I’ve learnt anything over the last 25 years owning and running businesses… It’s that the first step to resolving any issue, is getting it off your chest. So, That’s what we do 👇 YAB - Your Affordable Board creates a safe place for business owners to breath… To talk To be challenged To receive guidance and support From decent people, likeminded people, regardless of size… Without the fear or anxiety of being sold to all the time. The best business guidance I’ve ever received, was delivered by a lady with a business far, far smaller than mine. They were so much closer to reality than me or my mates. Today is Small Business Saturday. I have banged the drum to support small businesses this year and this initiative is a great way for us all to do our part and trigger supporting them more going forward. Many of them are genuinely struggling on the back of the pandemic and cost of living crisis. Many of them are family owned or solopreneurs who need the income to sustain their family. Sadly, even some well established businesses will end up closing. Let’s do our part to keep them going - they are essential for cohesive local communities and they help keep their owners’ dreams alive. #localbusiness #supportlocalbusiness #supportsmallbusiness

The importance of our local small businesses to all of our local communities. As we head into our holiday season we are reminded about patronizing our small businesses. Tomorrow is small business Saturday. Our locally owned businesses are slowly loosing their market share to the likes of the giant digital market places. I get it .... its more easier to click and pick than having to go out to numerous physical brick and mortar locations. You save time and can get things done efficiently.. A few facts; There are over 34 million small businesses in the US. Two Thirds of all new positions are created by these small business owners. Small businesses employs over 59 million people in our local communities all over the US. Revenues derived in our local communities stays here and aren't moved to a location out of the state. So please before you click that mouse see if you can shop local to help your local community based businesses all through out the holidays and for that matter all through out the year!!!! Why do people start their own business? Freedom? Money? If most knew what it actually involves, I’m sure they’d think twice. There’s no manual for this, even when you lease a premises like I do. The landlord doesn’t fill you in on what to expect—you just sign the contract, and they’re gone. You have to learn about staff contracts, health and safety,commercial waste, fire extinguishers,first aid the list goes on. When my front window cracked, then a break-in followed with the front glass door being smashed, it was all on me. At the start of lockdown, I called him in a panic, and he still demanded the rent each month. All my savings disappeared in those 8 months keeping an empty business ‘open’. And the rest of the year running on strict restrictions! I’ve even faced a tribunal after an employee stole from me, covering all the legal fees myself. In 10 years of running a hair salon, it hasn’t given me freedom I imagined it would just constant stress. Then there’s my @geekmeetclub. Building that from scratch, with tech costs piling up and plenty of bad advice—unfortunately, most 😫 of which I’ve taken. And still not making a profit 😫 #partner needed Today, I’m feeling drained, and a recent family loss hasn't helped. So, just remember, owning a business doesn’t guarantee freedom or a decent wage. If I could turn back time 10 years, I’d have stayed employed. Of course, if COVID hadn’t forced my salon to close for 8 months, things might be different now and I’m sure the stress would be easier? I’m sure having your own business and simply working from home or Bali 🙄 without any overheads is much less stressful! Because I don’t see many posts from business owners who do rent premises and employ staff actually? Day 78 of Living the Dream Day 71 of 2024 was another day of living the dream. I had a transformative time with Landing BIG Whales Whales. The group of people was great at helping others grow their businesses. I received feedback from several entrepreneurs on how to make my business better. Christopher Nichley, thanks for the invite. I’m coming to embrace my vision and mission for business more and more and pursue it more and more. I’m writing a book called “Nothing is a Waste! Leverage the Past, Improve the Future!” It will be hitting the shelves soon. I mentioned the book because I was watching the TV show “Shark Tank” and I find inspiration and innovation from these entrepreneurs, plus, I learned so much from Sharks on how to think about business and make it investor-ready. My vision is to build a sustainable and profitable business, making it appealing to investors, even if I don’t sell. Today, I worked on my CRM. This application is a much-needed tool to have a successful service business long-term. This afternoon, I transformed my customer’s places of business by caring for their lawns. It was a cool day, not too hot and not too cold. While working, I had a chance to meet someone new from Kentucky. Houston is a melting pot. I enjoy meeting people. You never know where one relationship can take you. I’m listening to three different books, The Wealth Choice( Success Secrets of Black Millionaires), Mere Christianity, and Sell or Be Sold: How to Get Your Way in Business and in Life. I’ve come to love selling. When we sell a product or service, we are exchanging money for transformation. My neighbor called me to inform me that his mother at 103 years died a few days ago. She lived a good life. Keep Living the Dream! Living the dream is real, and I’m excited about the future! Investing in support has given me: ✨Clarity on what actions I need to take daily, weekly and monthly to achieve my income goals. ✨ Visibility of how my business can support my buying my dream cottage in the Peaks, whilst working less hours. ✨ Accountabilty that I need to put this plan into action. Hats off to small businesses. I just want to take a moment to recognise all of those start ups and small businesses that have weathered the perfect storm of COVID, a cost of living crisis and global political unrest. Some of the stories I’ve heard from some of the small businesses I’ve spoken to tell of the grief following the loss of family members and friends, physical and mental health struggles, not to mention the financial hardships and uncertainty they’ve battled through. And yet, in the face of it all, somehow, they are still here and trading! 😊 Small businesses are the life blood of this country; the determination and resilience of each of these creative and innovative individuals is humbling. Politicians, (of all parties), are currently hogging the media limelight in the lead up to the election, patting themselves on the back telling us how brilliant they’ve been (and plan to be), and how hard they’ve been working on our behalf. Hmmmm…. 🤔 In my opinion, the real hard work has been done and continues to be done by every one of the small business owners across all sectors, they are the people that deserve a round of applause and a pat on the back.
