A little bit of data of data can go a long way. Very useful perspective from history about Value performance to Growth from Sébastien Page. I would two observations: 1. Value/Growth series seems to be a mean reverting series and this supports that growth is overbought to value and value should outperform. 2. Wonder about the impact of active vs passive on the performance of value vs growth. I suspect and this most definitely my biased viewpoint that active will have a premium as well though harder to attain. Is there still a Value premium? A simple way to measure Value stocks is to look at the book value relative to the market value. Between 1926 and 2023, stocks with a high book to market ratio have outperformed those with low book to market ratios by an average of 4.2%. However, over the last twenty years, the average Value premium was -1.4%. Watch here to learn more about the Value premium over time.
